24 today...
If I get one I'm happy, from anywhere, down the street or NZ, I don't care
I'm running out of stations to work as I have worked them all (not really)

Nah, I'm debating to do with what I have, a lot of storage for something I very likely won't look at again...
I've been too busy doing things today.
The King had ancestors from the Land of the Scots, uh huh.
I have enough proof of countries worked and certified, there is another way apart from QSL cards...
LotW is the gold standard...

As I said long day early night...
Yer pushing yer daily average up slowly.
Keep it up...
They all count. Just the one down the street is easier get the card to, deliver it personally. NZ would give you a bit of a trip though.
Worked them all! You'll have to start at the beginning of yer list(s) again.

Debating with yerself, who's winning?
How much room can a few cards take up...
Busy doing things, do you not leave yerself time to be busy doing nothing.
Which king are we talking about. If Charles III, I thought you new from yer school days. Short as they were.
You been certified, never mentioned that before. Cards not the only way of proving things?
Lord Of The World is yer target. Couldn't aim a bit lower and go for a country first...

You'll be up early. Sithi

I used to do more than that most days,
depends on propagation status..
Sunspot cycle peaked last year and it's 11 years to its next peak, will I see it?
It slowly goes downwards but still folk to work out there.

If I debated myself, Mrs M would win...

NZ? I don't fly so a long journey ahead, how many weeks...
I remember one proposed journey in the 60s on a boat to Australia....
Glad I missed that....
Never ever asked my proposed fellow travellers how it went...
LotW is the main standard and accepted as now.
I have DXCC and WAS, all I'm interested in...
Must (not) fly, Toodlewhatever:hello:

Oh well, off out so au revoir etc etc.

Sounds as though yer down a good bit then, contact wise...
And what's yer propagation status at present?
CME's will be on the decline for a while then.
There'll always be people to work, with a possible 3,000,000 worldwide to work on. Minus those you've already worked of course.

Would she still win if you debated only with yourself.

Get a small container, fit it out as a home from home, and travel as freight. Possibly cheaper as well.
Six to eight weeks, might require a bigger container.
Would you go if you got the chance now, for the same price...
Standards, who bothers about them! You in the Century's Club yet? Or aren't you interested in it.
Pipped at the post.

Owdo
Summer has disappeared again.
Don't moan about the rain sent your way, you did ask for it remember, for the sake of the plants
Why not?

I have 'worked' 200 DXCC countries..
I have 182 verified on QRZ.com..
175 'verified' on LoTW (considered the standard)
Sadly too many folk are not LoTW members as it's a US ham organisation,
more than a few of what they call DXEpeditions in and around rare countries are looking for donations for cards or LoTW verifications so you lose if you don't cough up, imho these should be struck from the record, I know the costs of this but not ethical in the eyes of everyone, make a donation if you want but no blackmail, send mollah or no verification,ig you get verification without paying you could always throw them some euros.
Century Club, what version?
DXCC I have, locator squares I would need to find out, quite likely.
My main w/wide club is the 2nd class operators......

It takes approx 5 and 1/2 years to reach sunspot minimum, its an 11 year cycle...or there about..Solar Cycle 25 had peaked they say in late 2024....sunspot minimum is great for medium wave dxing, noise levels etc are perfect for picking up NA stations that is any are left as they are going to FM or streaming online...

Not even hit double figures yet, took a trip early over to Kilcreggan, sat about for a wee while and enjoyed the views passing by the naval base at Faslane then later past where all the BIG BIG munitions are held...anything incoming and it'd be instant vaporised....

You've done the odd one or two countries then.
LoTW the bees knees then, at least in the HAM world.
You ever been on any of those DXExpeditions.
I read that right, pay and get verification for a contact never made. Seems dodgy, to say the least.
What size are yer locator squares?
2nd Class, you! Or does it work out cheaper, giving more contacts as a bonus.

You getting ready for the next low point, and contact with NA. You not doing FM.

Some work required to keep yer numbers up to the daily average required.
You visited Faslane and their big munitions stockpile. They'll have you on camera, and, may even as I type this checking the car registration to find out were visiting. And you're nearly a regular visitor to those parts.
What do you reckon would be the safe distance, should it go "bang". And could you scarper quick enough.

cq cq..that was me on the banks of the river clyde today.....nothing heard.

I spent my 21st birthday fishing in the rain on Coulport Beach (the big awfy boom place) from 10am to 8pm. Got home in time for one pint....
Yep, plenty of time spent in that area over the previous years, mind you that was over a half century ago
We decided to head to a wee cafe we know there and have lunch, it's up for sale !!!
Next time, we prepare our own stuff......
Nice wander and avoiding Glasgow as well.

Used to look out our kitchen and bedroom windows across the river to the Gairloch where Faslane is, we'd have been dust if anything went bang.

Made some weedkiller and did a bit of spraying this mid afternoon,
meant to put Polly up on the stand and do some fettling but tomorrow morning methinks before young 'un appears....

10 contacts today....
Squares? google Maidenhead Locator system, I'm in IO86ba, positions me in a 10km square...
The Second Class thing is a daft riposte to the First Class elitist group, more fun being held in contempt....
Nope, I haven't time for that sort of thing..

Maybe they heard but didn't reply, you could be frightening them. Take a fishing rod as well next time you revisit. I'm sure you'd be able to rig it up as an aerial. You'd just like someone doing a bit of fishing.

Did you catch owt on yer 21st. What time did the pubs shut up there, back then. Finished at 8pm and only time for the one drink... Dunt time fly. We look and wonder where it's gone.
You putting an offer in on it, or gonna stick with taking yer own stuff when you return.
You sound as though you don't like modern Glasgow.

So you moved further away, just in case. It'd have been a grandstand seat had things kicked off. A bit like "When the wind blows" by Raymond Briggs.

Was it dry enough for spraying up at Mhor Towers...
You meant to, but didn't. Poor Polly will be thinking you've forgotten about her.
You'll be fettling in the wee hours if you want to get it done before the youngest arrives.

10 enough for one day?
Not too small then, these squares.
You don't do elitist then. Can I take it they have all the current gear, never putting together their own equipment. Never fixing things themselves.
I'm surprised you've time for anything to be honest. Always doing something.

Nah, I'm a commie at heart....

One 'rybakov' style vertical antenna
rybakov-vertical.jpg

a 10m glass fibre fishing pole, the white bit near the bottom is a UNUN 9:1 with 7.4m of copper wire attached.
Temperature inversion thrown in as free.
Used for an HF test (of 60m), worked a couple of stations but prefer VHF/UHF work on hill summits, more fun.
Guyed down with tent pegs.
Funnily enough the antenna parts are what's in my loft now...
I have that pole and two 6 meter ones.
I do have a set up I can use for fishing but it is separate and was bought as a fishing whip.

Must fly, brekkie to prepare before interupttions start plus big river place delivering early, I'm the next stop.

Traffic through GLA is horrendous even on a quiet day.
The infrastructure rather than the actual road is showing its age..
Catch anything? don't think so...
One part of that loch I never had much luck on.
On the loch that Faslane is on, I fished many a time, one competition, I weighed in the heaviest fish, 7lb 12oz cod and got an envelope with 22 quid in it and got 3rd prize overall, I'd another two cod.
A 40oz of whisky cam home with me that day....
Passed the spot yesterday.

Fri evening will come soon, I hope:whistle:
Enjoy your day

Come on, you're bigger than her, and you've been where she is now. Use both to your advantage...
What's happening Friday that you want to miss Wednesday and Thursday for?
I'll try, I promise.

And you travel to major military bases, possibly with your radio equipment.

Looks good, almost professional the way you've got it tied down.
It's not as though you can get temperature inversions from either the big river place or the mysterious east, to use when you want.
Is yer leg upto getting you up those same summits yet though!
You got that up in yer loft! Don't the neighbours complain about it poking through the roof?
See, yer already set up for listening in whilst fishing. And they'd be non the wiser comrade.
Can't say I agree with whipping the fish though...

Single storey buildings in one bound... Brekkie prepared, eaten and all traces of you having done so cleared by now. Anything good, or just more of yer usual stuff.

Is it just the traffic you don't like then.
We've a council that like traffic lights. If they're ever in doubt they stick in a few new sets of lights.
Not even a cold... You do surprise me.
Third in a fishing competition, not too shabby. Especially when there's whiskey as a prize.
22 quid seems an odd amount as a prize.

Did you feel like getting yer fishing gear out and trying yer luck.

£22 ? it was a pool type thing...percentage of entry fee ..
Won two flyfishing competitions, ironically at the same place, only fished the place twice too, possibly the best? I won a place in a national stillwater competition through 3 qualifiers (trout fishing), I'll keep my experience to myself..... but it never involved fish. Sponsored by a national brewery, eyes lit up when the lorry drew up and started unloading case after off..they gave us two cans, I wonder what they did with the rest of it, I said no thanks, someone had to be at it.

I use the UnUn and wire not the pole....I keep meaning to add a certain length of wire to it to see what happens, it works..
Must be near 30 contacts today..
I'd too much on my plate today,
even busier tomorrow..awfy busy..
The advantage of this antenna it can be 'hidden', I know folk who use something like it but it goes up a downpipe, stealth at its best...
Off to log..
