Sound like something off an a la carte menu...with ratatatouie (?)sauce
They are getting overrun and rockery and troughs are suffering....

I now regret my 'taste' in 1970....along with the legs of frog and other delicacies.
Drink is a terrible thing....

I'll pull the plug on a couple over the weekend...
I need one but a spare would be handy...
I could run the board off a computer, hard wired like that would save hassle but this in going in the loft space...

I don't mind, a chose 1,2,3,4 type answer as that works for me..

60 on 6 ? hell yeah.....
I'm doing the bread and butter stuff on 40 before I look at 6.....
6 is the metre band, 50 mhz is that frequency, 40m is 7 mhz..and on and on. Ariston on...
I chase BOTA, POTA, IOTA, LOTW, DOK, mostly POTA ..lots of On the Air stuff there.
WAS was my main one but achieved....DXCC also..
Presently around 200 but not all confirmed

Anyhow, I better go snail catching, Mrs M reports a few out and about...
relocation over the weekend...
Young Miss Sniffles today...
A bit I suppose. Like Escargot(snails).
Are they attacking the troughs from above or below. This damp start to the year, and summer seems to be behind their larger than usual numbers. But anywhere there's summat they like, word gets around.

You had frog legs! Did you not think about what they did with the rest of the frog...
Possibly, but will you be giving it up...

How'd you pull the plug on a battery.
You got any space left in yer loft?

I used to not pick/choose any number, it went through to a person, now doing that gets you cut off.

Sounds busier than the others, for now.
Bread and butter stuff before you add anything else.
A fair few On The Air stuff is right, only JOTA missing for now.
200 contacts, so far, not bad going.

Is it snails or slugs yer catching and storing in yer bin? Mrs M helping you collect them...
Next doors garden maybe.
She coming down with a cold, or did you pass one on.

They work up and along above the door on the frame...
Their poop is occasionally poohed so a bucket of water splashed, I have sticky copper tape, I must try it (if I could find it).
The trap will be going in even if it isn't painted..

I was a teenager at the time (only just), I only tried things I knew existed but would never probably again the chance to try...
Not much became part of Bob's diet, 90% were sweets and cakes...
I made most of them,
they let me loose on doing a sweet trolley,
I wasn't that good on piping cream.
I was getting there when they got a new bloke in...
I was asked if I wanted to become part of the kitchen staff, nah, I stuck to washing pots..
It was a noisy place....
I left to work in a shop....

200 countries....

There were me thinking birds were bad on that part. Dry oats can cause them to explode.
Snails/slugs are lazy in one sense. They'll follow a track laid by any other that has gone where they're headed. Leaves a very narrow piece to cover, to stop them or send them where you want them.
And doing it whilst going up is probably easier, and a lot less trouble for them. And the pooh flies everywhere. Disgusting...
Yer trap is ready to go?

Back at yer fading holiday camp no doubt. Happy memories...
Were the only delicacy you tried whilst there?
They let you loose on a sweet trolley. Did they know what they were doing.
Suppose piping cream were easier than piping the haggis. And you got to lick yer fingers.
Was he any better than you though...
Stuck to pot washing, who were bottle washer?
I bet you were as noisy as anyone else in there...
Shop quieter than the kitchen?

Two Hundred countries, you sure there's that many.

"Sniffles" okay?

Over 350 + DXCC 'countries',
they kinda have gone overboard on them, specks of rock in an ocean etc..

Decided to pop into yon so called italian sofa mob, nice , nice and nice, delivery cost? wow...

I'm not a haggis fan....haven't the stomach for it (geddit?)
Pot patrol as it was called, (pre-empted those pesky pups), great job, food was top class, ate like a guest....
middle of nowhere, had a look in the last time we were in the area.. still the same.
Weird hours though...
On my day off , back to fading holiday resort with a lift the previous evening with booze salesman to Glasgow then choo choo, long journey back arriving after midnight in next village....someone would always come for you.. loved it but missed home...
Shop was easy going. My first job was a message boy / shop assistant, I'd to travel to Glasgow every day to pick up specs and some goods, it was opticians/ camera shop..
I got my interest in photography whilst there..

I sold two very expensive cameras in my first three weeks so the number two camera assistant took big huff with me esp as second 'sale' asked if I could serve him:laugh:, 20 mins later, another asahi pentax top model left the shop....I wanted an apprenticeship.....
I lasted a year before my wanderings started....

Nearly twice the number of actual countries that exist. I presume places off the northern coast of yer country get counted as separate countries. The three that make up the main island in this nation, and even possibly Northern Ireland, but draw the line at the Isle of Man and Isle of Wight being called countries.

Odd when you think about their adverts, they never mention delivery prices/costs. And I don't think they allow collection. For those able to collect. Eyes on anything in particular?

Would you get the chance to taste what you'd piped in. Thought that was frowned upon, by the man who paid the piper...
Pot Patrol, you went looking for pots that never came when you called them. Don't think it, Pot Patrol, would have taken off the same way as those dogs. And I doubt the Young Un would have been interested in them.
You were never aware of trying out new dishes, before they were served to paying guests, get feedback on them.
Hotels/restaurants always seem to keep odd hours, especially in out of way places. Anyone recognise you when you went back, invites to go do a few pots in the kitchen... Old times sake.
That sounds one good commute.

The shop paid for yer travelling to and fro, you being a mere message boy/shop assistant.

If there's one way too shatter the ego of someone above you is to be better at what they're doing than they are. I'd similar in the shop I were in, three company reps said the other shops were to call us first. Hornby rep said to speak to me first over anything they sold. We were simply a bit more honest, and got what the customer wanted if possible. Not selling them something else.
Lasted a year on yer apprenticeship, or didn't you get one before wandering fever took hold.

I eventually got a Greenkeeping and Groundsmanship qualification as a mature student:eek:
I ended up being a clowncil gardener, my radio certificate is City & Guilds so not a wasted life:laugh:
I never took any opportunities I should have, too footloose and fancy free...
Do I regret it? sometimes but it all ended well Mrs M keeps telling me..
My kids have made up for my lack of bettering myself....

The apprenticeship was not in the shipyards which I managed to avoid,
I learnt almost everything in the first year at a hands on place...It was going back to the actual workplace (now a Tesco) I didn't look forward too so of I went exploring....

Found that in the clowncil, peeps doing jobs they hadn't a clue, but that a day lost plus of the ones I met..

Mrs M has told me we are heading out..
so au revoir.

Just because the qualifications you got aren't as fancy sounding as some shouldn't mean they're worth less than others. There's plenty of "well educated folk" working beneath themselves in places such as shops and McD's. All that education being wasted.
Hindsight is wonderful, if only you'd had it then. Footloose and fancy free, the title of yer biography. When you find time to write it.
Is Mrs M ever wrong?
Maybe if you'd taken those opportunities, there'd have been no kids!

Nowt wrong with the shipyards were there. Other than once in it were hard getting out. Plenty of jobs for life that few wanted back then.
And you gave up selling cameras, and upsetting those above you. Hands on beats written work anytime. I tried to get the paper qualifications for the jobs already done, proved nigh on impossible. Folk are too interested in what you can do on paper these days.
Off exploring, don't they call it a gap year nowadays, go walkabout in the Northern Territories.

Promoted out of harms way, sometimes leading to further promotion(and big egos). Or else their paper qualifications showed they knew what they were on about. There's plenty like that in almost any sizeable workplace. A dying breed it appears.

Me late mum declared I wasn't going into the shipyards, sadly she never saw that I didn't work in them..
I didn't go the education route as I basically attended secondary school and flunked out, never bothered yet I stayed on for a wee bit until work came calling.. Looking back I'd a great time just doing what I wanted, here there and everywhere I fancied going.
Finally on 2nd July 71 I ended up (for the day) in that fading holiday resort, 5 years later I met Mrs M on THAT date, moved back to where I'd left from and the rest is history.
50 years anniversary of pain and suffering in how many weeks time?

It must be terrible working with folk who think they know it all and they don't and telling them how to do if, sadly a British trait. You get on by what school you attended, what organisations you are a member of and nepotism.....I once got told to get my driving licence....I did, motorbike one:laugh:

Time to go off and have a nightmare or two..

Sorry to see that, a pity she never got to see where you didn’t go.
Out as soon as possible and into work. Work knock on yer door or did you sorta fall into it... Travelling here, there and everywhere, sounds like fun, looking back. Knowing what you know now, would you have swapped?
The fading holiday resort sounds like the one in Hi-De-Hi. Was there a Gladys at the camp, waking everyone with her xylophone over the PA system in the morning. Three weeks intit?

Worse still if you've to sort out the mess they left in their wake, or you end up doing their work because it's easier than sorting any mess afterwards. Worst was whilst working in the shop. There was one, just too bone idle to do anything right the first time. Spent too long sorting out the mess they made. And they were better qualified(on paper) than me for the job. Which didn't sit well with them, or myself if I'm honest.
Weĺ if they never specified which licence they wanted you to get, what did they expect...

Sithi, sleep well...

Swapped ? no.. except the part in the first line..
May have said about the time I had a 'lift' drop me off near Corby, I had a cousin(I at one point thought she was my aunt) who stayed there so off to find the house, Sat evening, neighbour says she is up in Scotland, typical, out towards the A1 at near Stamford, night spent on a cemetery bench, got to the A1 and parted ways with my pal who headed south and I thumbed and bloke said I'll drop you off at such and such a place as lots traffic heads N, duly dropped and a white Imp stops and find out eventually he was going to within a quarter mile of my final destination, the place I loosely called home...another spooky connection, Mrs M had a white Imp when we first met....Life in my case has been all weird connected coincidences.

The fading holiday resort? there was a member on here who moved there, dunno if he still posts..

I enjoyed shop work, wearing a suit wasn't my style and it was procured from the local pawn shop, think it was a John Collier special, the window to watch !! I enjoyed the early supermarket store boy one too but knew they wouldn't want to employ me past 18..

In other news? I'll be knitting my own greek style yogurt later...
