Ahhh, I feel you pain. Had a serious crash 2 years ago and missed the gran fondo TT qualification. I broke my collarbone in 2 places and it jumped out of place at the shoulder, but the worst was the ribs.
I did not have surgery, so my shoulder is a bit of a freak show, but it works ok. I too had a Mallorca trip planned, but that was 2 months later, so it didn't really interfere with my cycling other than the fitness I lost.
As I remember I was on the turbo two weeks after the crash.

Hope your ribs didn't get the same treatment as mine did and that you have a speedy recovery.
Just the collarbone. The break is near the joint with the shoulder, and only a single break. The X-ray shows that the bones are quite aligned so I'm hoping it's a quick recovery. I've got to go to the fracture clinic on Monday as the triage nurses hadn't see a break at the same point before so couldn't advise. The good news is that at least two of the fracture clinic consultants are cyclists, one with the cycling club, the other is the North hants rider that's entered your local gran fondo @LBHIFI

I hope to be on the turbo in a week or so, even if it's just spinning the legs.

AAAC, what the hell are you doing in the 6 pm race? Don't tell me the first one was just a warm.up .

Someone said the fit guy's had to do the six o'clock as well so I did.
Didn't intend to do it all but I was feeling real good this afternoon which is a real suprise because I thought I was having a heart attack this morning. It tunred out to be really bad heartburn which, like indigestion, I don't get too often (if at all) so the only thing I could relate the symptoms to was my angina, but worse.

Oh yeah - what happened at the start ??? I got caught out and was stuck on the start line.
Sorry Monte, my bad. I was a few minutes late after a scary finish to the rugby, and was a bit all over the place.
I have a suspicion that you are part greyhound Adam. If you have something to chase you are after it
This made me laugh, because do you know what, I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing as I was trying to catch an AAAC who was toying with me.
I would never commit so fully to these sessions without that chase instinct.
The best training aid ever!

AAC, thankyou, you were blatantly giving me a tow, and a psychological benefit, for which I am very grateful. It helped immensely, I was ready to throw in the towel several times.

I was trying my best to drag you along, it's quite hard work to get it right. We had over a minute on your ghost at one time but it (you) came back at us on the last big descent and was only about 17 seconds behind me at the end!

Yes, that was when I had Bridgy breathing down my neck, and I was killing myself trying to fend him off. You were a HUGE help to me this evening, thank you ever so much. I would never have beaten my ghost without your assistance, both mentally and physically.

Sounds scary.
But it didn't seem to affect you racing today. You were back to your old self, and then anyone challenging you better have something special to pull out of the bag :notworthy:.

Your downhill speed is much better than mine, I could only gain on you slowly if I pedalled demonically.

Bad luck!
That is one of the down sides of riding real bikes in real places.
I know big bunch pile ups are often bad but crashes on the track often end up with the 'innocent' coming of worst as man 1 and 2 in the incident generaly slide of and man 3 onwards just pile into the, now on the floor, rider and/or bike which is pretty much like slamming you front brake on at full tilt.
