LIVING THE DREAM
Already in hand dear boy. Big family holiday sorted this year:okay: .... doesn't include bikes though

My good lady was surfing the interweb looking for this years sunshine holiday for me to pay for.
She came across a lovely looking place in Mexico and I was up for that.
After a few reviews of reports on Trip Advisor she commented that it was not such a good idea because it was frequented by 'young poeple'.
I agreed as the last thing I wanted to do was lay on the beach all day looking at 'young people' as that is certainly not my idea of a good time!
She said what she meant was they would be noisey so I went and got her my ear defence for working on the aircraft dispersal but somehow that still didn't sway her.
I'm sure I caught her with a Saga brochure the other day

I thought Caravan was a group from Canterbury, England who released LP's such as 'The Land of Grey and Pink' ('where all the Bou Scouts go to think'and similar deep and meaningful lyrics that seemed so cool in the 70's)
Just googled and listened to winter wine. I wish I knew about this 40 years ago I would have been way hip and with it to know about a prog rock group no one else has hear of.
Also earlier had to google grass up.

Now we're on the same page Bill. Let's get the DD under our belts first. Have you got yourself some good gloves this year?

We will indeed . Yeah I have all kinds of warm stuff to bring along. I only didn't last year because I assumed spring was well and truly established and summer was just around the corner. How wrong I was :cold::cry:

Still got the vinyl tucked away in a cupboard somewhere along with 'Better by Far' and the 'Battle of Hastings'.
I got so cheesed off with the cool guys coming into school with the latest Cream, Tangerine Dream, Pink Floyd and the like albums I went out to find something different and what better that a local group that the locals hadn't heard of. I actualy got Land of Grey and Pink from my sister as she had seen them live as a support band to someone.

PS: Glad you said 40 years ago as that made me feel really young again!

PS: PS: Crap they're still gigging - Bucket List (Now watching Bowie live again has been removed)

Hmm i feel I ought to support Gail in minding the villa while everyone else rides.... Wouldn't want you plagued by doorstep sellers or distracting views of the sea alone.....
And yes, we have got a caravan but what Add has failed to say is that he 'cleaned' it with the power washer and although he noticed water running down the inside of the windows he forgot to actually stop/ check/ dry it. Now it stinks like my great aunts wardrobe and I cant see any of us wanting to spend much time in it.

Double Diamond? Sounds lethal.
'A Double Diamond Works Wonders' - a pity it never did for me, just gave me a hell of a hangover
That was the expensive brew when I was a youngster - cost the equivalent to 5p a pint in new money.
8 pints and a bag of chips and you still had change out of 10 bob (50p) - those were the days.

For me it was 4 of us kids packed into the back seat of a Wolsey 4/44 (UKJ876, I can still remeber it) towing a trailer tent, that was once owned by Stiring Moss (apparently), all the way from Kent to the New Forest, Bridport and closer to home Brighton.
Loved every minute of it, once we got there, sorrounded by the big outdoors and no feeling of missing those gadgets and games from home, as we had none.
We had the freedom to roam the Forest, the Beach and the Sea all day with no parental supervision. How times have changed!

Luckily my eldest Brother had joined the Army when he was 151/2 and my eldest sister was already busy making her own family as six of us would have been a squeeze on the back seat.
My memories of childhood holidays include borrowing a trailer tent from my dad's mate. It was ancient and very saggy so it was nicknamed bagpuss. We also got very accomplished at putting it up in torrential rain. One night we had a horrendous thunderstorm and the canvas was leaking, six of us trying to avoid being dripped on and trying to avoid touching the metal poles in case we got struck by lightening. My dad took refuge in the car and left us to it! Still, it was better than b&b holidays where my mum never liked the look of any of them and we'd end up driving around in the dark desperate for anywhere in the end!

I would be happy with that, sounds like a plan. Also I feel the children would benefit from the fresh air so we could get a few of those bike trailer things so they can be towed along. :giggle::giggle:;)

Odd name for your dad's mate, Bagpuss!
Not even going there with the rest of the above.

Not so long ago I stood forlorn and hungry by a vending machine at work as I had ten bob in my hand and couldn't affort the cheapest snack.
