No, I still have the chance of getting more comfortable by throwing some money at the problem. Tonight was just me taking my 24 hour mountain biking race seat and putting it on the racer. It's a big hideous wide heavy thing but it didn't feel so good tbh. Definitely not as good as it feels on the mtb, probably because of the totally different riding positions. I've so far noticed that all my other saddles (4 of them) are all exactly the same width although I haven't measured what that is. So looking forward to my visit to my LBS and see if I can get my sit bones measured and try a new saddle.
It'd be good if I can get a new saddle on for Saturday but I really don't fancy doing that ride again.
I've been pondering a professional bike fit for a long time but it doesn't seem right as I only ride indoors however riding on a turbo for a hour and a half is probably worse the a few more hours on the road due to the lack of change of position, stopping, standing up and so on.
Getting all of the angles and height right should be well worth the effort plus the chance to try a load of tester saddles.
My work colleague, like me, has been riding competitively since the early mid seventies and he is still competing at 57 all be it in triathlons now.
He had a bike fit a couple of years ago and he couldn't believe how much they changed, as like me he thought he had read the book etc......
Good luck with your saddle choosing,
If I could buy just one more saddle that was the right one I would pay up to £150 for it as over the past few years I have probably spent double that on saddles, all be it I have got some of it back by selling the rejects.
As it turns out my most expensive purchase has been the best one so far however by
ebay Adamo Prologue, which has been my second best so far, had an RRP of over £100 when I got it for £50.
