It is a bit full on trying to complete all three leagues
I've never done so much
My wife has said it's like I'm on the last week of the tour with Aspin, timetrial (handicap), tourmalet, alpe d'huez and ventoux on consecutive days to get completed. I'm determined to do all sessions for all leagues.

Only 2 to go! ^_^
Just alpes d'huez and mont vonteux for me too. Alpes tonight, hopefully the mont on Saturday

Historically it has been about 7 - 7:30am ish, if you pre register, which would be do able from Swansea I guess. But biggest concern will be missing the post race debrief/ piss up.

cheers Adam might be bit much to drive up on the day as its 1hr20 drive then 10hr+ cycling
was hoping it started about 8.30 so looks like ill might stay over

Well I did my first bkool session in 18 months, trying to keep my heart rate to 150 bpm or below, and was shocked by how little power I could develop before reaching 150! I was a little anxious, bearing in what happened last time I bkool'ed so I guess my heart rate was probably a little higher than it should be, but I'm going to have to much improve my leg strength if I'm going to get anywhere near the back of the chain gang!

Still, I have a baseline now, and I can challenge my own ghost and work on slowly improving my strength over the winter. From watching you guys, I should be able to do more within that heart rate limit, it's just hard to train without exertion, so I expect it will be slow progress. I've lost a few kg over the summer, but still have a few more to go to reach my ideal weight, which should help a little on the climbs.

Since I hadn't ridden bkool at all, I'd retained my Active 9 fitness level, but that was busted last night!

Geoff, that's great news that you felt able to get back on the Bkool

If you start riding in the live leagues again it could take a fair bit of self control to keep your HR within safe limits though!

In fact, there's a possible "handicap" style race there somewhere - a session where all riders have to keep to an average HR of sub 150 (or lower)!! Could be interesting...

We have Alpe 'dHuez tonight Geoff if you fancy joining. (Only kidding )
Seriously though, it's great that you're ready to climb back on the turbo and experiment with what you can do, keeping your HR below 150. I have recently had some rides where I couldn't hardly get my HR above 150 and that was because my legs were weak. Basically my heart was saying yes but my legs were saying no! I wonder if you could do something to keep your heart rate low? For example, if you lowered you saddle, could this be a way to stress your legs without stressing your heart?

I like the idea of that Paul. Could be based on Average HR perhaps? Might be quite enjoyable compared to the flat out punishment we always seem to be doing.

Alpe d' Huez for the Chaingang tonight. What was I thinking??? (?) Funny how one commits ones self to ridiculous tasks involving only pain and suffering as long as it's far enough away to not care at the time.

Anyway, thinking about it, it might actually be fun, and will be very different. I know that the usual group I race alongside will be somewhere up the road so I'm looking forward to my new racing buddies to swap places with numerous times hopefully.
Definitely not going to be flying off the start for this one. Slow and steady I reckon.:bicycle:

7pm warmup. 7:10 start.

As for the re-run on Saturday, I wont be able to do it as I'll be out. I was going to suggest we do the Mountain Goat Ventoux ride instead for that so we could try to get all the stages done. Is anyone doing Ventoux on Sunday? I think @theboxers said something about doing it. I'll be looking at doing a fairly leisurely pace just to get the stage done and would rather do it with company than be suffering alone. Maybe we could get a few to do it. Time?

Yeah, you're probably right - and it would probably just reflect the normal standings due to fitness levels, but just be a slower version! I did the chaingang session again the other night at an easier pace and averaged 140bpm and 282 watts (vs 167bpm and 365 watts in the race)
