I did that 43km one for the first time today as well, I use these as cool down sessions normally. The first bit is easy'ish, for me at least. The second part you need to spin at quite a pace to keep the speed up . That's why I haven't done this one before :surrender:.

Yea, my keyboard is out of easy reach as well. I'm mostly racing these days, so I don't really need it. Not that I could do all that much with it while at race intensity. I don't do much with the in-game stuff like ride-ons and such.

I have recently been setting the tablet nearby on a shelf while racing to help keep track of the huge group of riders in the race. (Just scrolling the live results to track the lead qualified group). I also had it for the group recovery ride last night-- it was kind-of nice to be able to chat a bit to pass the time on the recovery ride.

I'm trying to look at the limited course selection as a positive -- since I'm mostly racing and getting more competitive within the C group I'm finding courses that suit me well and those that don't. I'm getting a sense of where I tend to get dropped and where I can potentially drop others, where I can likely jump to a faster group after we get split without bringing the slow group up with me, where to start my sprints, etc.

Even so, more courses are good. I think they'd be well served to actually connect all three worlds (four by the spring) with a bit of road so that you could move between them. But they do continue to update Watopia a couple times a year and London received a minor update a little while ago as well.

Are you racing in events that have power up j law? I find this feature a bit odd but I don't know the finer details of it.

How long did it take you? Took me a smidge under 43 minutes.

The power ups are odd and a bit gimicky / gamey, however for the short time I was on Zwift, and I did a couple of races, the power ups are banned in the race itself. You need to be able to reach your keyboard for the power ups so pretty pointless if you can't reach your PC :banghead:

I thought @Brusgaard was going to be tough to real in, he went off like a shot and then I noticed you had dropped back a bit.
I was feeling a bit rough but a good old blast helps sort things out.
I don't think @Brusgaard wants to play no more...

Most of the races I do allow them (KISS EUR), but a few don't and will penalize or dq for using them.

I'm of a mixed mind on them. Most are of marginal value afaict. The exception is aero which seems to have outsized effects and can make a real difference in catching a group, creating and expanding a gap or winning a sprint.

It seems like aero is used more strategically while the rest are small tactical advantages.

Yeah it seems a bit gimmicky to me. But I haven't ever tried it so I'm not really in a position to judge. I'm suprised by it I guess. But I've got to try it to have a valid opinion I reckon. I don't know how the system works with regards how you pick the power ups(?) up. I know from playing mario kart that the leader gets the worst of it while the guy at the back gets all the best power ups. While in other car games you can buy boosts and improve your vehicle.
I saw an avatar of a guy with a trek madone with zipp 404's. Does that mean he's faster than a guy with a lesser bike? The fact I'm talking about a cycle simulator in comparison to video games from my youth is a little odd in itself!

The guy at the back gets an Elite trainer power boost...

i think it is suppose to work that the longer you have spent on zwift the higher your level , the better choice of bikes so potential to go faster
i have just got a new lighter bike on it and just beat my time up a hilly bit , but when i tried changing to a tt bike for the flat i still got thrashed

Sounds ridiculous TBH. Should this not be all based on weight, power and terrain rather than virtual bikes and power boosts?

Maybe their thinking is that it is more welcoming to your average joe. While the hardcore will end up on the best bikes a suss the power ups so it doesn't really matter to them. Dunno...

This is the weird thing for me. We complain of a lack of level playing field on bkol but zwift is the same. Longer you play the game the better the kit you get which gives you advantages over other riders. My 250 watts is therefore not going to beat someone else's 200 watts as they have a lighter, better, faster bike.
