Just listening to a radio item on this. As I say, it's very scary.
The agent that actually does the whitening is Hydrogen Peroxide.
Your dentist can apply a gel with a content of 0.1%.
Over the counter you can buy gel with (theoretically) a content of 6%.
The cowboys that you can find on line often use a gel with a content of 51%.... yes 51%.
There were 2 women reporting terrible results....... one had gums so badly damaged that she lost (i think) 5 teeth and other damage that cost her £10K+.

We have been warned.

Yes - some of the things advertised from Turkey are quite scary

I am sure some are perfectly professional

but how do you tell!

Indeed.
As the prog' pointed out......you would maybe expect a poor low strength product.....not something many 100s of times stronger than is legal.

Vain women and Turkish medical mispractice, a marriage made in hell.

The Grauniad has an in depth article on Turkish cosmetic surgery to fix overuse of filler injections.
In true Guardian fashion, one of their 2 example women was not cosmetic surgery at all, but reconstructive surgery after car crash facial injury. They cant help themselves from lying to each other.

TBF I didn't mention Turkey. The examples mentioned on the radio were either products bought in this country or treatments applied in this country.

If you think this is scary it's nothing compared to aesthetics which is a total wild west. Unlike professional teeth whitening which for years now legally can only a carried out by a reg dentist. Botox and wider aesthetic industry anyone is free to do it. If you can find a medical or none medical prescriber willing to prescribe for you. Sadly it's easy to find ones who will for cash and no questions. Or they just bypass it all and buy and sell knock off stuff.

It must be a scam, Turkeys don't have teeth....

That's silly.......how can they gobble without teeth ? (Keep the answer clean if possible  )

Not forgetting the serious long term health implications of using botox.
It is also worth mentioning vitamin B12 injections are made popular as a side income for quacks.

Vitamin B12 is very cheap in tablet form and far far safer than an 'instant hit'.

I am a bit skeptical about 50% H2O2 as that is not far off rocket fuel (strictly speaking oxidiser) and would set light to most organic materials on contact as well as a significant risk of decomposing into steam and oxygen. OK the wartime rocket powered Messerschmidt used 80%+ but that dissolved / set light to the pilots and was incredibly dangerous

I did think that, but I was unsure about the numbers. I remember at school for some reason we added H2O2 (no idea of the concentration) to animal blood, and got lots of red foam. Quite what the point of that experiment was I have long since forgotten.

(Edit. It's come to me. Peroxidase enzyme was the subject of the experiment)
