Has anyone else managed this at all?

I have been "off the pop" since the start of January and I feel so much better for it. However, that's not to say that I don't get hugely tempted still.

How do people manage the cravings and also the social pressures? (A lot of my friends have reacted as if I said "I've decided to become a murderer").

Help!

I don't drink at all.I use to have a few back in the day,but started to get banging headaches more and more.(even after a shandy),So gave it up completely and never missed it.

Pretty much the same here. I don't drink at all. Even when I go to pub I prefer to have a glass of coke instead.

I have never been a big drinker, and often go months without a glass. I'm not that bothered about to be honest, amd when I do have a dring I tend to like that cheap weak Belgium stuff.

I've been off it since December and most of the time, I don't have any craving. When I do, I just binge on sugary shite, seems to work.

When I did some night rides, some of the pubs looked really tempting, with their open fires and offerings of real ale....I resisted tho - even tho I wanted to get outta the cold.

The cravings will lesson over time, unless your were an alcoholic, then they may never go.

I've too do feel better for not boozing.

Haven't touched any for years(for various non publicly admissible reasons)

Don't miss it, yet I don't miss smoking 40 a day either.

All the money I used to spend on booze, I now spend on cycling!

I am /was a bit of a boozer and love stronger beers and red wine and cognac and ... well most booze if I am honest. I have got past the stage of needing to drink to go out, but I miss the taste of it. And I do miss being drunk a bit too and my friends also think I'm weird.

I mean, I AM weird, but the not drinking makes me decidedly less so!

I consider myself TT.

I do still occasionally have a drink, but it would generally be exactly that, a drink, and TBH it's so infrequent and so limited that when I do it's not worth even counting.

My first job was in a hotel where I worked for 8 years, and I think seeing all the idiots patrons night after night might have affected me away from alcohol.

Oh yes, that and the fact I never could handle it myself xx(

Cravings were sorted by becoming the designated driver. Free non-alcoholic drinks all night, petrol paid for and no hangover the next day.

Friends who aren't supportive aren't true friends. You can either dodge the issue (I'm driving / early start tomorrow / training etc) or be upfront, say you've quit and ask for their help to avoid the temptation.
