II felt no anger to this guy .

NO Anger...crikey, and I thought I was easy going.

Good for you....I guess

Personally, I would have taken lee's advice and stopped, got off and waited. If he'd got out and approached me then we would have had a short discssion that would have ended very badly for one of us.

Alternativley, he may have seen that you were visably shaken and thought again about his actions (doubtful tho)

I cannot believe you have not reported this driver, you MUST..he is a liability and is one of those rare breed that is a danger to EVERYONE no-matter how they travel/live.

I just wish that I was there too. I've noticed a kind of subtext to altercations between drivers of cars and bikes, the car driver seems to think that they are physically superior by virtue perhaps of the fact that we are "only" on a bike (and therefore weedy weirdo's). funny that, if we'd both just met in a pub I can be certain that the this driver would not have been so "brave".

Lee's advice is good. Dont aggrevate a bad situation by scratching the car, you could also come off doing it!

Best to stop and have a breather, if he also stops and gets out of the car then your on much more of an equal footing.....and better chance of riding off even if in the other direction.

Idiots like that need to be reported.

Good that your OK. ;)

Of course you could tell of him dishonouring you and your family.. and challenge him to a duel to the death of course.. it's easy .. take off riding glove and swipe him across cheek.
it's all about uncovering the yellow bellied cowardice of a bully...
You are prepared to die for our cause .. arent you, sonny?

Dont scratch the car, whilst he is there, simply leave it a while, then have a go at it so he doesnt associate the two events.

I probably wouldnt, but it someone feels happy to try and kill or injure me then I am perfectly happy to ruin their cars paintwork in retribution, it would have to be pretty bad, about like this sounds actually.

I had a driver squeeze me this morning and, save a bit of lucky wobbling, would have had me off. I wagged my finger at him and shook my head. He shrugged his shoulders and shook his head.

Not matter though, a little later (a few mins) I whizzed up on the inside of him and pulled out without warning - I knew I could risk this as he had plenty of space on the outside and I knew I had pace on my side. He had to quickly adjust. He passed me a few seconds later and wound his window down and shouted 'touché'.

Not an advisable course of action but all the conditions were right for it, so pleasing never-the-less.

Do advise why the police would get involved in an incident like this :
after the event
no witnesses
no injury

I've tried... they aint interested.. I now ride with colt 45 shaped banana in my shorts

Ask them to pass it to the traffic unit, and ask for a crime number.

Or do nothing and let the pond-life get away with it and reinforce his view that he can treat other people how he wants to without fear of the consequences.

I have now reported this to the Police, there were quite open that without a registration they could do very little but it has been logged and I think they were quite thorough in obtaining information, descriptions, road names, times etc.

I am quite disappointed that nobody has congratulated me on getting up Streatley Hill in a timely manner:laugh:

Sorry mate,

we're only interested in RLJs, RHCs and RTAs (actual and near miss)

If you'd have flagged your activities as RWC* we'd have probabably noticed

I think you are the confused one here offering suicidal advice on what to do in a situation as described by the OP.

You really and truthfully believe that the best course of action against a driver of that mentality is to put a scratch down the side of the car? If you do then you are in a word - stupid.

If the OP or anyone else for that matter ever comes across a driver as described then the best thing to do is stop by the side of the road and take a few minutes to calm yourself down, this way if the driver really does want to have a pop then they will have to get out of their car and in doing so makes it much more fair because now you have taken away the threatening aspect of them using their car as a weapon. The probability of this happening though is next to 0. Then when you get home report the driver.

I don't see what my previous occupation has to do with the this thread Crankarm - seeing as you have mentioned this then maybe you can enlighten me?

And this is coming from Lee the truck driver who drove the truck in Spielberg's Duel ;)..........
