The last time I rode my bike was on the 6[sup]th[/sup] December, my excuse is too cold and my back has not been to good.

PAH! that's nothing, I haven't been on my bike(s) since the 12 of September!
That said, I think I have recovered from my disembowelment now, but I'll still wait until it isn't icy - don't want to anger the doctors if I do do myself an injury.

January seems a nice month to start.

I've been off the bike for about 2-3 weeks now, firstly due to the first snow fall and 23mmSchwalbe Blizzards being incompatible (ironic? I think so!!), latterly due to mehaving had a cold/sore throat. We in the mysterious northern fens are currently snow-less however, and I'm feling increasingly guilty about not cycling in.
So, tell me to grow a spine/man up and grow a pair/whatever 'cos I need to get out and burn off some pre-Christmas calories!!

p.s. then when I go to the London bike show in January and spend some MORE money on bike kit I won't feel so guilty

So, did you ride to work today?

First time this year I haven't ridden today..............only because I have a meal tonight after woork in central Manchester, and I've decided to drive rather than mess about with public transport. Planning on an early getaway though, nip back home, then out to the pub with some mates.

Will be back on bike Tues and Weds, off on leave Thursday, but back in on Xmas Eve - might just drive then for speed, and not having to get kit dried off with the various Xmas preparations.....

Back from leave today and cycled in, just took the short route.
Learnt a few things on the way,
1) Avoid shared cycle/pedestrian paths where the snow has frozen solid so it is not very easy, although the guy on the mountain bike made it look easy, ended up walking the small section I have to do.
2) Avoid brown snow, it is very slippery even on Marathon Winters.
3) Watch out for the frozen snow on the edge of the roads, almost had me off when I was trying to avoid a speed hump.
4) Stick to the ice or car compacted snow.

I take back what i said after bouncing today, luckily it was a slow motion slide which did not hurt or damage anything but i must admit even passing the gridlock/Christmas traffic tonight was on the twitchy buttocks side !!!! I am still out again tomorrow though,i'm a glutten for punishment !!!!
Do what you think is safe for you

At your age they should have dropped by now

From the fens ... need we say more

As I was born a Ryton lad, I'm not tekin' that from a Gatesheader, so you can just take yer Sage centre and hoppit bonny lad!

Just done a couple of miles with Marathon Winters and Snow Studs. Ice and snow everywhere, Didnt feel it at all though, Nice average and full control

Get a pair......of studded tyres

Can't seem to get any 23mm studded's, and they probabably wouldn't fit the Tif anyway. A 'cross bike, on teh other hand.........

Get a spine man !!!
You're only what...10 miles from me, i havnt missed a commute yet.
TBF, on the worst days when snow was down, i used the hybrid with 32 mm tyres but ive been using 23's on the roadbike since, then i'm lucky, i'm riding in the city on gritted roads...maybe not the case for you. . Even then, i'm only commuting for 45 minutes maximum, my hands won't take any more with the cold.

Do you have far to commute Browser ? A sore throat's a bummer, maybe take it steady eh.

I come in to the Power Station from Crowland via Thorney, the detour on the orders of SWMBO who won't let me cycle along the A1073. Truth be told, I'd need a new pair of wheels a week the state the bloody thing's in!!

As mark is my boss and we are not back to work till Thursday the growing of a 'pair' newsflash will have to wait .................. I'm not confident though

As fer you, yer carbon tart-ridin' TDF wannabe, I've a feeling the tops of the boiler stacks could do with inspectin' Christmas Eve!!

RM...He was all wrapped up against the cold and.............walking.....!

(Ok if he probably was doing a bit of xmas shopping!)

Correct that man! You must've noticed the hangdog expression, the utterly dejected trudge, the palpable aura of suffering hanging over me
Sorry for interruptin' yer scumbag-nickin' as well bud, hope you managed to keep warm too, it was ruddy perishin' out there.
As my voice has now virtually disappeared (shut up Mr W!!) I may think "sod it" and try the velocipede Thursday when we're back in. Then again.......
