Makes me bloody laugh, America and Canada get literally buried in snow, and they cope perfectly well.

Here, a light dusting and the bloody world ends, schools and shops close, cars start crashing into each other, the supermarkets get cleaned out..................grrrrr FFS. It is embarrassing to be British at times...............

well there is a reason isn't there? In Canada, Norway and so on it is bloody cold in winter and they get lots of snow. Everyone has big boots, skis, winter tyres for their cars, sump heaters, and there are lots of serious snow ploughs for clearing the roads.

Other than highlands of scotland, most of us would have changed our cars twice before needing winter tyres, which would in any case have perhished from lack of use. And most of the big snow ploughs would probably have siezed up and rusted before being needed

We have serious snow so rarely it's better to put up with the once in 10 year disruption than spend billions just-in-case. That said, it is annoying to have a perfectly passable road blocked for everyone because some numpty is unable to drive properly on snow but there you gom

I just checked on how to survive snow, I have one problem though.

Some tips on surviving a snowstorm
  • Make sure you have at least three gallons (13.5 litres) of drinking water per person, per day
  • Tape the windows with bubble wrap to keep the heat in
  • Use your dog to measure the snowfall
Will a cat do?

I dunno. On the news there were Washingtonians driving like Londoners after an inch of snow. I'm thinking its a capital city thing.

I might be able to get one of the younger cats to do it but I doubt that Kizzy could be persuaded, far too happy near the fire.

I've got 3 problems......
Drinking at least 3 gallons of water per day? Might as well go stand in the toilet for the duration then!
No bubble wrap.
No dog; and if I did, I wouldn't expect him/her to be proficient with a measuring tape.

Y'see! I knew the dog was a big red herring.

The best vehicle I ever had for driving in snow was a reliant robin , the natural wedge shape and rear wheel drive was akin to having a motorised sled. Great fun in the snow and if you slid off the road it was dead easy to push back on the road again.
