Hi guys, Im going to be cycling to munich in april and was wondering if anyone can recomend a decent lightweight 1/2person tent that wont break the bank to much but still good quality? of course i know you get what you pay for but wont be using it every night of the trek as will stay in hostels some of the nights.

Decent, lightweight, 1/2 person . . . .

Well fitting all those is the Terra Nova Solar 2. Only you can decide if £300 will break the bank or not.

hmm yea £300 is alot more than i wanted to spend really.

yea i have a decathlon near and have taken a look, just looking for some advice on peoples experience of tents of this criteria before i commit to buying one that looks ok by site but could well be a waste of money.

I dont have one but I made friends with a guy at a campsite who does and it's excellent.

It's the Decathlon ultra light 2 manner.

I will be getting one for my next trip. Of course as you say you can get better if you spend more money but for around £80 you wont find much better or lighter.

By the way use the search function this question gets asked a lot.

Hey

I use the following tent I got off ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Solo-One-Pers...re_HikingCamping_Tents_JN?hash=item3a513f5a08

Its very cheap but it will see you alright to Munich, no worries. its waterproof, so long as you put it up right(!) very light and crucially if you are wild camping, very easy to hide away and quickly disappear.

Only thing is yes it is very cramped so if you are any taller than 5'10 maybe not for you, but for the price I doubt you'll find better.

Oh Yeh?

The Argos Pro Action tent is now £15.99. It's held in rather high esteem by it's users despite the diminutive price tag. Search on this forum and google it for user reviews.

I recently aquired a second hand Vaude Taurus Ultralite which is roomy and lightweight.

Wild Country, which is Terra Nova's sister company make the "Duolite" which is a bit heavier but a sturdy foul weather tent which should keep out the April showers.

just jim I had a look at that tent and it does look like it has a little more living space (it says L=105 but i'm guessing thats a typo as it says size of living space 290) so about 20cm longer.

BUT it does weigh a little more and oh yeah ITS BRIGHT ORANGE! Not so good for wild camping. I win!

I've used the Argos Pro action one, and the only drawback is the colour is a poor choice for wild camping.

At £16 it's a bargain - they were nearly £50 when they first stocked them.
