Tern Verge D9 with "451" wheels - possible to use a hub generator?

I was considering the Verge D9 recently, as a faster and also as a backup bike for my Link.

Trouble is, I need something to dive into traffic, I must at least have decent lights, and no, batteries are not an option for me.

Do you think a typical hub generator could be mounted on these wheels?
The newer models have disk brakes - does that exclude my idea?

Honestly, I've never driven a bike with disk brakes.
How durable/problematic are they on the long run, on a daily driver?
My old car often suffered from rusted cylinders that at some point made the brakes lock permanently, I realised this when the disks where smoking. Is that an issue with bicycles?

What does 451 mean anyway, how many inches is that?

Sure, no problem. Either Tern offer a retrofit option (inc. the wheel) or you need a hub dynamo with 74mm OLD and have to build the wheel yourself (or let s/o build it). ShutterPrecision do offer dynamohubs that fit (8 and 9 series). Disc is not a problem.

What does 451 mean anyway, how many inches is that?

It is 20" but bigger than usual. "Normal" is ETRO 406, ERTRO 451 is slightly bigger. Trouble is that it is somewhat uncommon, so the choice of tires is way more limited in that size.

...before buying the almost identical Carrera Intercity Disc 9 for half the price.

The money saved you could have a wheelbulder lace your favoured dynohub into a wheel, and have a weekend break with the change.
