I know what you mean, you can take out excess points in RWGPS too. From memory the early Etrexes had a ridiculously low waypoint limit like 50, whereas the newer models have 500 (I think). FWIW, I find having a pointer stick helps with a tablet for route plotting, but that could be down to my fat fingers.

For a toothbrush, I use one of these:

I think my Etrex 20 might have a 50 limit if you want the unit to auto navigate between the points, but if you use POINT TO POINT, or direct routing (perfectly reasonable if you have a good way of positioning them) I think the limit may be 200 or 250 - and with this you can easily do a full day's tour riding. The "fat finger" syndrome is what has put me off trying to do any clever route creation/editing on a tablet - with a small PC you of course have a keyboard/mouse pointer to help with the editing etc,. There's a nice workaround on basecamp as well (which I strayed across) to very swiftly edit routes and create a series of waypoints which aren't waypoints that litter your garmin's screen when you don't want them to. If basecamp was available as an android offline app, I'd just get a keyboard for the android tab and use that - until then I'm afraid I'll have to stick with PC type devices. I don't mind sitting a tent fiddling with the next day's ride for half an hour - I'll save more time than that the following day in saved junction faffing. I will investigate android route solutions though.

Problem you wil have is WiFi, as many of these systems require access.

You will either need a phone that has a contract that allows tethering or do your planning in a pub / cafe that has WiFi

I use a small MiFi Dongle and buy 12 GB sim only (about £30) and valid for a year. Then use it to top up my Phone tethering

Take two bottles into the shower .. just go through other people's lockers until you find one you like, nick it and use it:

PlotaRoute now has a mobile version that doesn't need a finger (fat or otherwise) to mark points on a map. It uses a system similar to the one Google maps uses to "Choose on map"

Nor would I. And why two lots of shampoo? Steve could just wash his head with soap .

My grandmother used to wash my hair with a bar of Sunlight.

That was 50 years ago.

I recall complaining about it and being told you couldn't get shampoo in the Second World War, so had to make do.

I didn't know you could haggle with PC World, i have been looking at pc/tablet conversion jobbies for a while as i like to use basecamp for editing/tweaking routes i have initially had calculated online, and then transferring them to the garmin etrex20.

One of the ones I saw was a lenovo but can't remember which.

I do remember having doubts about the durability of some of the units but can't remember if this related to the lenovo at all. So i will follow this thread and your views/feedback with interest.

Ps, so you aren't in denmark at all but burnley thereabouts?

You can haggle with anyone. But they dont always haggle back. PC World did on this occasion.

I am in Denmark but I was in Burnley for a week on a course.

Thanks for the reply steve.

Never imagined Burnley being a place for international courses.

Hardly a glamour spot of an evening but some wonderful countryside around.

Would be interested in updates on your experiences with the Lenovo.
