Fleet number? They're carried on the back, sides, and front of most buses. First use a five digit number usually.

The route number, location, direction of travel and time are likely to be enough to track down a driver too.

You should complain to TfL. I'm making a point of doing this. The response is pretty pathetic (pm me if you're interested) but I figure that if enough of us do this they might actually do something and that also if there is some record of a complaint it at least might help if the driver goes on to hurt someone. (Ok if a bus driver kills me, its not much consolation if he gets prosecuted, but its something ...).

Write to them, and copy in

1) your MP
2) local plod
3) local council

Ask them to review their inside and outside cameras, and give them a deadline to respond. Be prepared for a long haul. Good luck.

+1 on this. There seems to be no reason for someone like that to be allowed to drive a bus, and if it were the case of being late then even that is no special license for speeding or driving without due care and attention.;)

Actually while I'm here I should commend the local First drivers. All (except one this week) have been excellant around cyclists lately.

Sorry to hear about your run-in mate, I had an incident with one of their busses today too. though it wasn't life threatening as yours sounds to be.

Coming through Claydon village, a first bus decides it wants to overtake me just before a bus stop... he then decides he needs to pull in to the bus stop so brakes hard and swerves in front of me...

Get your letter writing skills going, hopefully you will get a decent response from them. and hopefully you won't have any more 'contact' (pun very much intended) with that bus in future.

Good luck!
