Hiyi Aristotle, well there are quite a few Islands & there's not a road that takes you round as such, but you could spend a couple of weeks on your bike here & see a lot of it. Thank you for the welcome. Charis.
Many of the roads are on the coast & you're never far from the sea but we have nothing set up for bikes, although it's possible to ride fair distances on the old single tracked roads which are nice & vaguely run along side the newer roads. E.g., it's possible to ride from the airport to Lerwick, the town, 26 miles, & not have to ride on the main road hardly at all, if you don't mind lifting your bike over a few crofters gates. Recently the police did a bike/ car awareness campaign & now cars overtake only with a very wide berth. The roadside wild flowers are unbelievable everywhere in Shetland & so is the wind, you may well, some days have to stay in 1st to get down hill.
