My commute to work is 13 mile each way, (Gosport to Portsmouth) after taking delivery of my new bike, I was too excited and too impatient to wait for my tires and tubes.

Got to work no problem..........however on the way home 4.5 mile in......you guessed it. greeted with a puncture!

All my friends at work, I had a very long 8.5 mile walk home!(Still better than sitting in gridlocked traffic on A27 )

Just a thank you to the cycling community who stop and asked if I was OK, some even offered me tubes and help to change. I kindly declined due to the embarrassment of being a 11 year experienced commuter (I know I should of known better, I just couldn't resist jumping on my new bike)

When getting home I was greeted to my Marathon Plus's and 4 tubes. (Ironic eh?)

Great to see the cycling community still looking out for each other.

So thank you, ride safe.

You should have accepted help and got yourself home. The what goes around, comes around principle applies, I reckon. Just make sure you lend a hand if you can when you next come across a stranded cyclist. You won't begrudge the tube or wear and tear on your pump, you'll have a pleasant handful of words, you'll get thanks, and then you'll feel good the whole way home.:thumbsup:

then accept help when you are in need! although i do know some people who will always offer help but never take help from others

i have only tried to help a cyclist once (only one i have seen broken down!) and that was a bloke mending a flat at the side of the road so i stopped to see if i could help or at least lend a hand pumping to save his energy but he said he was fine so i just hung about and chatted to keep him company (he was by him self)
always stop to ask lost looking riders if they are lost though
Cheers Ed

Something similar to the OP happened to me yesterday and I accepted the offer of a free tyre!
Cyclists are generally pretty cool like that, we do it cos we've been there.

Bang on.

Sounds beautiful. I have to cycle past the infamous Bradford curry mile, fancy swapping? (great for takeaway's on Friday though )

Depending on time we should pass each other somepoint between Cams and Hilsea - I'm the sexy one on the Ti bike.

Think I would have waited rather than ride in on the rims, bit noisy
