... to the oncoming driver this morning who stopped when he was already on a mini roundabout to turn right in order to wave me go across so that I didn't need to stop.

It's possible he thought I was just going to go anyway and so had started to brake, but I was actually braking and would have come to a stop safely if I had to - I'd seen him indicating and TBH, I'm not that fast;). Anyway, I gave him a cheery thankyou wave. What with that and scalping another commuter, and the chap in the BMW who had the grace to look sheepish after nearly pulling out into me, it was a good ride in.

That's nice! I hate having to stop on mini roundabouts, especially if you've got a nice speed going.

The few I encounter are usually busy, everyone else seems to be waiting for everyone else to make the first move most of the time - and I'm quite happy to be first to go, saving me from stopping. ;)

Busy mini roundabout are easy, you just punch your way through. Keep going, barge your way in and your away. I do it at one when i go to see my GF, people sit there waiting for each other to go, i go down the side, keep going and just go through the RAB.
Easy:becool:

+1...just bully your way onto them. I find it's easier on a bike to do that as your already a bit more nimble.

I wouldn't (intentionally) jump out in front of a car (though I have made the odd mistake), but just time it so your right has to give way...then you can generally force yourself first.

Must be something in the water ( we have lots up here ! ) but i have had a few good moments with motorists these past few weeks which makes the ride to work a pleasure and not a battle. They also like a little nod or wave thankyou...all is well on the road !
