Hi everyone, I picked my Merida Ride 400 up today and I love it!

I didn't get a chance to go on a decent ride but the small one I got in I was very impressed totally different to my hybrid.

Thanks to everyone answering my never ending questions I know I am a pain in the ass.

Sorry about the awful pics I will get some better ones once it's light.

Yay, it's not black
Enjoy

I was a little worried about the blue, in all the pictures it looked washed out, the 2017 400 is really nice, but it's nice it's a matt finish, I really like it.

I am happy though, I like it more than I expected to and it's a spec higher than I expected to get.

I could've got an Ultegra spec online but I like the relationship I am building with the LBS.

Black bike and in a rural area like mine, would be dangerous.

An awful lot to be said for that, and not just in terms of looking after your bike.

My local bike shop provides occasional free secure parking when I nip into town, they lent me a couple of extra lights for a night ride, and lent me a lock when I left home without mine.

They've put me in contact with other cyclists, they let me have stuff delivered to them - saves me waiting in.

They lend me a secondhand bike if mine needs to be left for work, and are helpful in other ways that I can't immediately bring to mind.

None of which you can put a price on, but if you could it would be a lot more than an upgraded groupset.

Yup I brought the wrong bracket for my bike so they lent me a spare from the shop.

Don't think the colour of the frame makes a lot of difference except perhaps if it's reflective. Make your self as visible as possible, use good lights and get cover for legal help in case of a SMIDSY

It probably makes zero difference but I suppose it's a placebo type of thing on my part.

Lighting I am good for now.
