On my return from Rufforth yesterday,i failed to get to York.I was overtaken by a beautiful open topped Triumph sports car.Glorious blood red and very shiny chrome.A non threatning throaty roar as he passed me,even a wave for moving over for him.Well down the road i heard a pop-band-explosion,then i saw the hood rise up in the air tumbling from the sky.onto, luckily an empty road.I got to the hood first, while at the same time, waving my arm to warn other motorists. The car had now left the road, and was resting upright in a small ditch and left headlight in a hedge. The windscreen was smashed. The driver was ok,but very very angry with himself. He said he was in a hurry, and may have not fastened down the engine hood correctly,oh dear what a costly mistake. On a brighter note ,he was not hurt,i was the nearest to the flying hood,i was safe and no other cars were involved.
