That's it - give me a camera... whatever it costs

What area does the OP cycle in?

I've yet to have a problem myself.

If you think that getting a camera is going to somehow allow you some sort of comeback then I recon you'd be pretty disappointed. From what I've seen, most people who buy cameras for that reason spend their whole time getting extremely stressed out with drivers/pedestrians/other bikes and loose much of the enjoyment of riding.

My advice would be rise above it, realise the world is full of tw@ts and enjoy the air and the freedom. Generally people who go looking for trouble find it,

LOL! Don't take everything you see on youtube as that is what people experience all of the time. I've had a few bad experiences on the road but they make up less than 0.1% of my overall riding.

Do you want to watch me singing along the country lanes? Probably not, hence why most of us don't upload that.
Generally people that go looking for conclusions jump to them.

Go on, point a camera at yourself and upload a video of you singing along country lanes  I'm sure it would be popular!

This.

When I'm on longer rides on quiet country roads I very rarely upload unless it's a nice day and it's pretty scenery. And even then it's mainly for the benefit of locals that are subbed to me.

Getting the camera has made my journey less stressful and frustrating. With the camera I know if something bad happens, I can do something about it and if something REALLY bad happens to me, there will be video evidence for the police to use.

It's kind of a security blanket. ^_^

Sounds good to me.

I also think it will be good for me. I can get a little angry when things like this happens, and if the camera helps me maintain self control then mores the better.

One word of warning though, it can become a bit of an obsession to begin with but the novelty soon wears off ^_^

Pretty soon, it becomes just habit to use it and then you only look at the footage when you really need to.
