Missive from the sis...
Lying in the bath on Thursday, listening to the Ken Bruce show (Radio 2, excellent chap and very knowledgeable). He was promoting some late night show on R2 and said it involved some 'modern' orchestral music. Which went on to remind him that some puffed up composer, doing one of these (nonsense) pieces asked the trumpet player to 'extemporise - play notes that only meant something to him'.
After the piece was over, the composer came over and patted the trumpeter on the shoulder and congratulated him on his perfect extemporisation and what a very good job he'd done.
Only to learn somewhat later that what the trumpeter had actually played was morse for 'fark me, what a knobhead'
