.......until after Christmas.

I have just done a 20 miler and it's mad out there. I think people's minds are on anything else except driving at the moment. I wont mention the error I made and cut a delivery lorry up on a roundabout!

A couple of weeks off will do me good then start a gentle build up for longer Spring rides.

Me too. I did 50miles today, and was feeling a bit wiped out (more so than usual), so I'm having a full week off the bike and any training to rest up. I find it really hard to do base miles, as I always boot it too hard and end up tired, so I've invested in some rollers as a birthday pressie to myself, so I can poottle at a low HR indoors.

Have a nice xmas everyone.

If your body calls it mate then best listen. I made myself nearly ill recently by taking one day rest per week. Madness but true.
If you need it then take it. Come back stronger!!

Elite Arion Parabolic. Reasonably cheap @ wiggle, but I got a few notes off extra as I had a coupon, so got them down to £120 inc VAT & delivery.

Was looking at those ^^^, the Tacx Antares and Galaxia rollers. All near enough in the same price bracket. Always used a turbo trainer so looking to mix it up. Do you think variable resistance is a must on rollers?

Will have to do a bit of research and make a decision.

From what I understand, unless you are a monster and push BIG watts, just changing up through the gears is enough of a workout. I have a turbo for serious sweaty work, the rollers are just for base miles and technique, plus I've always wanted to have a go, they do look cool (as long as you're not falling off!!)

I done 90 minutes on the turbo yesterday. A session called "Clark" on trainerroad. Had me doing 6 x 8minute 230watt efforts but each one had to be started with an all out 12 second burst. Hitting 600-650 watts average and it was bloody painful i tell thee!! The big effort was followed by an effort just below threshold and thats what was so annoying cause you just wanted to rest after. 6 times!! Sadistic bloody people at trainerroad. Sore on the bottom too after 90 mins.

I'll defo be getting rollers for, as you say, base miles when it's too bad weather wise.

Yep, the main reasons why I won't use the turbo for base is numb nuts and sore arse :cursing:, not to mention it's boring as f**k unless you have a structured workout to follow. I beat myself up to the sufferfest vids, and it really does make it fly by...........painfully.

I've a club mate that swears by the sufferfests. I just put on a dvd and the trainerroad minimises down to the bottom of the screen, horizontally.
Without a film to watch or something to do i would, not only have numb nuts and a sore arse, be bored out my t*ts.
