As long as I breathe, I attack.
I had just started my commute home in driving rain and i road over something that sounded metallic, hard to tell in the rain and i suffered from instant deflation on the back tyre.
Checked the road and i could not see anything for the standing water so i pull over in the underpass so i am out of the rain , and now its feckign sleeting and although my head is keeping dry the spray from lorries etc is not helping .
Take the wheel out and get the inner tube out then check the tyre , a good 2 cm cut in the tread going all the way through !! so i put a new tube and a bit of old rubber i keep as a tyre boot and get the tube and tyre sorted.
Once i get back on the road i have to take it easy as i can feel a bit of a bump as the wheel goes round and with the standing water its a bit dicey in spots anyway .
Get home soaked through and cold thanking my lucky stars that the tyre lasted long enough to get me home and i walk into the house the wife looks at me and says " It did not rian much here ":surrender:

I always carry a spare tube, but I've never really thought about the consequences of severe tyre damage where the split in the tyre might cause the tube to protrude. I'll be looking to carry a suitable 'get me home' rubber plug with my kit in future. Hopefully I'll never need it, but thanks for the thought.
