Not my favourite time of year, on so many fronts.
Weather is rubbish, and it's dark by 4pm..
I don't like the ever increasing commercialisation of Christmas, why do some people fall for it in such a big way? They obviously have too much disposable income, so don't then go on to moan about the price of petrol, electricity, gas, food, holidays etc.. Nobbers.
I don't have children, and Christmas is THEIR time of year, so I guess most of it should be passing me by. But I resent the fact that we are being forced into starting the "celebrations" from about mid November. That's quite a big percentage of the year.
As for Christmas "party nights", don't get me started. I used to get suckered into them but haven't been to one for years. The crap, overpriced Christmas meal, the same old songs I've been subjected to for more years than I care to remember, the Santa hats, the colleagues you wouldn't normally spend the time of day with. Thank God for alcohol, to numb my senses to all things "Christmas party"!
Yet we insist on all these over the top celebrations when it comes round EVERY bliddy year??
Aye, feck Christmas, it's shite. And lost all of it's original meaning. Soon be time to dig out my favourite avatar .

PS... Those who want to tell me I'm not entering into the spirit of Christmas; eff off and start yer own joyous merry happy Christmas thread :okay:. Ho feckin ho! :santa:

So there are others outside the xmas 'matrix' :okay: i loathe this time of the year and all the festive ****e and look forward to the end of the season signified by the pathetic puny bangs of new years eve....
I hope no one tries to rescue me from my blissful solitude as i might have to plant an axe in their forehead

At last, a thread for me. As @Brandane states above, it's too over commercialised (and no I'm not religious either. It starts roughly as the previous one is finishing or at least around Easter. The weather in invariably cold and dismal and it's dark for far too long. Christmas telly is garbage, Christmas songs drive me up the wall, especially Slade's dirge. It's supposed to be the season of goodwill and happiness but you try shopping the week before and everybody is in a bad mood!!! Merry Humbug to one an all from Ebaneezer Sterlo.

Better start the Christmas Cheer thread. We've actually got a big family meal - first time in years that we've managed to get all my siblings and family together on Christmas day.For many years we had to do 'It's MIL's last Christmas', so everyone had to go round. She's still here.

It is all fairly recent at least in Scotland. We did recognise it but very low key. When I was a postman I did a morning delivery Christmas day. New Year was our holiday time.
