It's back again by popular demand ( at least 2 people asked for it )
Welcome to the Eleventh edition of the half century a month challenge
This thread is just for chatting about the challenge ,The challenge thread will be up soon ready for Jan 1st and gives a run down of the rules
The challenge remains as popular as ever and gets us out riding perhaps when we need that bit of extra motivation , strangely addictive you've been warned
I once again will be acting as general taskmaster( some say cruel taskmaster) ,encouraging ( some say bullying ) you along and trying to keep everyone in order ( bit like herding cats) .
Good luck to everyone who enters ,may 2025 be the year of the tailwinds ,downhills and glorious weather
Anyone thinking about entering for the first time just give it a go were a friendly little corner of the forum ( mostly unless I find out you've only riden 49km 😤 Grr ) and everyone is encouraged ( or bullied ) along to get to the finish line

I'm going to commit again - although given how much I've got on in February it may only be a short commitment. Bearing this in mind, I'll also have a go at my personal sub-challenge monthly '50k Ride outside Suffolk' as well.

That time of the year already?
I keep telling myself that the trick is to get an early December ride in (as I did) and leave January until the the last minute (effectively giving me two months off), but I tend to get a bit of a cold sweat around this date and end up trying for the 1st, so ...
Count me in.

I'd also like to ask (nicely) if, in 2025, a few posters could stop listing every ride they've done since 1st January and just provide a short summary as the first line in their post?

If your rides get to above 12 or so on 1 page can we agree to start a new page with something like Jan to March completed , as I do a lot of rides I start each month afresh . I will try and monitor the post better and Pm people when they get too long

I haven't been doing many 50s in recent years but hope to in 2025. I'll group the reports into however many months it takes to get to 10 or so and then start another group with links to any previous groups. So, I should end up with at least 2 groups, but maybe many more.

As a very rough average for how people post my suggestion would be quarterly so Jan to March ,April to June etc

That would be overkill for me unless I do increase my 50s frequency - I only did 11 from Jan-Jun and 13 from Jul-Dec this year. Mind you, it wouldn't hurt to group them that way, so I will.

It will be different for every rider due to the difference in the amount of rides we do ,I don't want to set any arbitrary rules it's just something to keep an eye on , In your case lasts years would have be fine split into 2
