Done. Had a bit of a ride out with my brother today...oh boy. He fell off after about 4 miles...narrow single track lane, oncoming car coming quite quick round a corner and we each moved to the side and he misjudged the end of the tarmac. The start of the verge was ultra soft and he dropped down about 4 inches and off sideways☹️. All well bar a couple of scuffs that soon crusted over and a bit of needlework required on his best leggings.

Other than that a lovely ride but by the of of the 45 miles it was getting on for 3 o clock and the temps seem to really drop again. I was(and still am) cold.

Bit of house hunting on the way 😂😂

Aaaaaand ... over the line! Phew!
My time for this distance has dropped off dramatically, so to have completed my tenth straight year feels rather good.

Well done @Donger finisher no7

Thanks. Not particularly impressive this year. I promise to do better. These challenges really are a good thing, though. Not sure I'd have got on my bike more than a couple of times in the last six months if it wasn't for keeping the run going. I had been so looking forward to taking my bike back to Annecy for probably the last time in September, and when we had to cancel the holiday it really knocked me for six.

I've started looking into some different off-road or quiet lane rides in different parts of the country for next year, and that should help to get my mojo back. It is always nice not to know what is around the next corner and I've definitely done my local lanes to death. Has anyone on here ever ridden that railway path from Market Harborough to Northampton? That's one of the ones I'm considering doing, and I might just get a 50km ride out of it.

That’s me over the line for 2025 with my December qualifier done today. A cold (4C) and foggy start … the sun gradually burned off the fog and it turned into a pleasant afternoon. A leisurely pootle down to the Oust valley – mostly on the V3 Voie Verte with a brief section on the Nantes-to-Brest canal – then back to the van in Mauron.

Pleased I did the ride today as rain arrives this evening and is forecast to hang around until at least 16th December. Considering it rained almost every day in November, it’s turned into a very wet autumn/start of winter. Good news for water levels in the local reservoirs, if not for doing long bike rides.

Some photos from the ride:

A menhir (standing stone) on the east bank of the Oust, south of le Roc St-André. Never seen it before (not sure why other than I normally do this section north to south) – will check the map later and see if I can get closer to it next time.

That's what the challenge is for just that extra little push when required

The Brampton way is a nice ride it's ridable on a road bike in summer . I would recommend starting in Market Harborough as I seem to remember it ending in a random industrial estate in Northampton , Nice cafe halfwayish at Waterloo farm cam site . Don't forget lights for the tunnels not very long but surprisingly dark . You can branch off and do a lap of Pitsford reservoir which is mainly off road
