Enjoy your holiday - I thought you were on 'permanent holiday' like some/most of us .. so I guess it's just a temporary change of holiday location. Photos would be nice ..

I hope you can avoid the thunderstorms that we've been brewing up for the last couple of days and lobbing over the Channel in your direction.
Yes it a holiday from my permanent holiday 🤣. Weather so behaving itself and forecast looks good 🤞

I got a sunny 51 km ride in today. I did a tour of some of the local hills then met pals for coffee, and scones with cream and jam, at a cafe in Hebden Bridge.

After the cafe stop I left the town on the Rochdale canal towpath and had a very near miss when my front wheel slipped out on gravel. I slewed one way and nearly dropped the bike, then the other way and nearly ended up in the canal!

I think that is the first time that I have avoided crashing when losing traction at the front of the bike.

I must stop daydreaming when on busy towpaths!

I did 29.08 miles this morning....despite the closeness to another point I was happy to stop as I was fed up with sweat dripping in my eyes and bugs splatting all over me. One of the disadvantages of having lovely countryside to ride in is the animal poo and forest attracts bugs, flies etc .
Headband required for the sweat - riding with one eye closed is not great plus some thought required re bugs and trying not to eat them or breath them.

Oh and slightly frustrated as still on my MB because still waiting for brake shifter replacement on my best bike..now week 5.

I have been suffering from blepharitis, and rides on these very warm days are adding sweat to my already soggy eyes. I made the mistake of putting sunblock on above my eyebrows, which made the problem much worse. I am not doing that again.

I have bugged by bugs on rides too for the past couple of weeks. Climbing steep hills while trying to breathe through clenched teeth to avoid inhaling insects is no fun!

Still, sunny days always beat cold, wet, windy ones.

Certainly the bugs were out in full force on my 50km ride today. Even just 5km in, when I was still "in town" as it were, my arms looked like someone had pebble-dashed them with black specks - it was all sorts of flies and other things that had got trapped in a layer of suncream and sweat! Thankfully I did not have any problems with bugs flying into my eyes as I was wearing sunglasses, but I certainly tried to keep my mouth closed so I didn't get an unintentional protein break!

What I need is a sweatband with an integrated zapper that projects a magic beam ahead and causes the blighters to swerve. Not too much to ask surely. 😂
