August is upon us already 😳

And if you want to be somewhere up the road to see sunrise. You may have to watch the Moon go down too (Somewhere Nr Bradwell, Norfolk):

Onto Gt Yarmouth and over Breydon Water:

Then around the back of Gt Yarmouth and toward Caister:

Where my plan to catch Sunrise at the Beach was realised:

So I soaked it in 😁

……more than once 🤣 (Stopping again here at Gorleston):

This bike may be an odd MPH faster than my normal and now quite svelte Carrera. Hard to tell ! **I can tell the difference between 32c tyres on this and the much plusher riding 38c on the Carrera mind…..😉

Really enjoyed that - after having a week off pretty much; post-Dynamo last weekend:

Today's 50km was an unplanned one ,the plan was to complete 100km for the metric challenge but things didn't go to plan . It's was a drive to the start ride to Oundle to pick up some veloviewer squares ( not an obsession you need ) which meant a bit of gravel riding . I'm currently on my no2 bike as best bikes rear wheel is being rebuilt ,this bike runs tubes rather than tubeless on best bike . 1st gravel section puncture !! ,a bit my fault as the pressure was a bit low and this was a pinch flat on some rough gravel ,no issue changed the tube quickly onwards gravel sector 2 puncture !!! 😤😤 different wheel this time it's a nail . So second and last tube used . So I'm only 6.5 miles into a 64 mile ride and no more spare tubes ,do I want to start patching tubes road side ? . Plan abandoned so I head back towards the car thinking that only going to be 13 miles so I hatch a plan to stay close to Oundle and get to 20 miles in ,I started to get a bit more confident believing I won't get another puncture with no more of roading so Obviously a 50km was completed. Just off to patch some tubes 😁

@13 rider - 2 in 6.5 miles is awful 😳 You’ve done well to get to complete what you did 💪

To make you feel better: not as good as 5 (Or 6 ?) on the Dynamo by someone I know. Inc one 300 yards from the start. And the last not far from the end.

The last producing a ‘F#^k you’ I’m walking to the Cafe now attitude. Where rest was had and Beers consumed. Where upon leaving: more expletives were muttered when he then remembered he still had a puncture and needed to ride back to Beccles: 20 miles away…….

Character building !

Not ridden in Rosendale for a few months so off this morning trying to dodge the roadworks. It seems Bolton and Bury councils are conspiring to put us residents of Sunny Radcliffe under house arrest. Not so, roadworks and three way traffic lights abound in Rossendale also :cursing:
Lots of new houses being built as well in and around Edenfield. New café tried in Whitworth, Cafe Dot :okay:

I love it when you set me these challenges to find the errors you clearly deliberately made to see how long it takes me - have to say it's a lot of fun!

4.05am ticked by as the front door shut - and Strava was started. And I could barely see the sign 30 yards away at the end of the road. Some of that because of my near 55 year old eyes. Most of that because of a severe fog / mist 🤷‍♂️ Still it was warm - and it would certainly be the highlight of my day with a full schedule of meetings looming……….😳

So of course not many photo ops ☹️ This one being at a flyover at Gillingham, Norfolk - at the very far end of my loop:

Onto nearly Beccles. And I don’t wish to tell a TALL story, but……….

IMG_5408.jpeg

And that was that for pics. Nothing I’d not snapped before. And some nice scenery or a sunrise wasn’t happening ☹️ So I just got my head down and peddled……. 👍

Not exactly sure what my plan was today. A late message asking if I was going to watch my Son race in a local 1/2 Marathon meant the route had to change. But I went with no real plan of distance. And certainly not enough fuel to deal with what I ended up doing 🥴

My ride started just after sunrise: (Late for me !);

An abandoned Holiday resort in Hemsby:

NEEDED Nutrition and drink was had here……

A Mill out near Horsey:

And near to that was this very typical Norfolk Broads scene……

Arrival at Sea Palling - and my turnaround point:

Not enough fuel. I bonked at 38 miles coming back. Needed better planning in this heat !! 😳

Failed Lunacy ride - afraid I would melt in the rain so I phoned for an uplift
Managed to eke it out to a qualifier and I was pleased with my averaged speed, especially up to Wigglesworth.
Number of device tech issues en route, not least being forgetting my heart monitor.....
Would have made the distance if I added my morning run to the Clarion, but it was two different rides.

Which is exactly what the Lunacy Distance challenge is about - distance over the course of a day (any number of rides). You've been doing it long enough - you really should know that. And just look at my last three posts in this year's challenge - all made up of different rides in the day.

Not sure why you're worried about distance though - you've just posted a ride of 731.8 miles ...

Inflation of imperial to metric has gone mad since Brexit ;)
