I've occasionally jokingly said I wouldn't date someone more than 8 years younger than me as I wouldn't want a partner who is younger than my Britannia building society account

You need to change your Google search termsI reckon that to be the first time I have seen a photo of Hugh Heffner wearing clothes.
When my father was 50 I was about 9, he still managed to take us for long walks in the Lake District and bike rides, he always discouraged us from being sedentary. I have a photo of him performing an "inverted cross" between two ropes 10 feet or so from the ground, he would have been 60 at the time. One of the last genuine "Round the Horners" he lived until he was 92. If he had stopped smoking he would have reached 100.That was the thing, when my little brother and I were 8 and 6 my dad was 50 - and 50 in the 1970s was a bit different to 50 now (like wot I is). There was no football in the park and dad games because he had already had his first heart attack.
Yes! (If the gap were too big one way then death of the older partner could be imminent. Too big the other way and the police might want to get involved.)Is it possible for the big an age gap between man and wife to be too big?

Somewhere in between - go for it!
(I don't do relationships now but if I did I would probably be with someone reasonably close to my own age, say 55 - 60.)
