I had read about the ",blood brain barrier" for a few years. It is not everything that gets through. Today I was curious about how fish oils reach the brain. Google came to give some help .Below gives an interesting explanation.It is quite marvelous.


Fish oil (specifically the omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA) crosses the blood-brain barrier (BBB) primarily through a specialized transport mechanism, rather than simple diffusion. The key mechanism involves a transporter protein called Major Facilitator Superfamily Domain Containing 2A (Mfsd2a), which shuttles these fatty acids directly into the brain.

i recently sliced my finger open on a cardboard box edge
my body dealt with it so absolutely beautifully and it got me looking at how it heals cuts. just amazing and something we just take for granted.
now if it would just heal my sore toe/ankle/shoulder....

I first saw Professor Crawford during a Rick Stein programme. During the conversation, the Professor stated that studies had been monitoring decreasing brain size and cognitive ability and a rise in brain disorders for decades. Obviously the particular programme concentrated on the decline (in UK) in eating of fish/shellfish and omega oils.
