Oh dear.
I had a Schwalbe Marathon Supreme that got a nail in the sidewall on it's maiden voyage.

Mountain bike tyre is likely robust enough that taking that out and a possible patch on sidewall and it’ll be good to go again.

Almost certain sidewall tape unless you like the bang of a tube bulging out the hole eventually. I restored a nailed Marathon + that way.

Last I rode, I was commenting to my grandson how I had not had a flat for about the last 6000 miles! When I went to put the trike up at the end of our ride, 2 tires were on the rim!
