Its unlucky for Armstrong that no one else in that era took drugs and lied about it until they were caught.
Life goes on and he will be in the history books as a cheat along with dozens of others.
It was the continual denials that did it for me.....the constant covering of his erse etc etc, the cover up continually going in the background by his so called accomplices.
His admission of guilt wasn't good enough....
Early admission could have helped him...

Same here but it was the film Gandhi...
Was that the one about Mahatma or Indira?

I quite want to watch this but it's on for full whack on Apple (£13.99) and no rent option - I never liked him anyway but the OH said it was worth a watch...

It's on Netflix, I watched it last night. The villain of the piece in this movie is doctor Ferrara and Armstrong is presented in a sympathetic light which is a bit hard to stomach. Some of the people that were close to him and privy to secrets Armstrong denies are given a neutral spin so that the viewer gets to decide. A nice guy doing what he had to do to win or a lying snake?

I've just searched Netflix and it's not there! Are you on different country settings from UK or does Apple TV only show the things on Netflix which aren't on iTunes, if you get what I mean?

IV looked to there, not in uk Netflix.

As guy with just over 18 months interest in pro cycling, I found it an interesting watch. Found a lot of it hypocritical on both sides. Those who had also doped scams across as jealous that lance was the celebrity one. Yeah he concealed a lie, but he raised a lot of awareness for cancer, and for cycling. He just doped better than others and it gained resentment .

I am appalled, so many people believed in him and he has let them all down. The worst thing is, after admitting that he doped he seems to think that all is now ok, he admitted it so that is fine , life goes on. He is so arrogant that he believes that all is now ok so what is all the fuss about.

Trouble is that in many cases that is exactly what has happened. For many riders they have doped, been found out, been suspended and then come back and it has "been OK"

Admittedly the scale may be different, but there is a certain amount of hypocrisy in allowing some riders back into the fold, but not others.

Tom Simpson is a classic example of a drugs cheat who has been almost forgiven for his cheating.

David Millar. All respect for him to become actively involved in cleaning up the sport and yes he did eventually admit he doped opening a huge can of worms but he still doped.

Barnet,
Yan Ullrich is almost forgotten now in Germany, whereas Marco Pantani is revered in Italy to this day. Pantani was my cycling hero during the late 80's and 90's. I am still very sad.

The problem is that so many have become fixated on a personal hatred of Armstrong that they are missing a far wider picture of the doping, bullying and cheating that went on and still needs to be addressed.

So long as Armstrong is up there as a pantomime baddie, it serves to divert attention from many of the real issues.

Blimey, is there more than one Gandhi?!

The Ghandi family have been prime movers in the theatre of Indian Politics for the last 5 generations.

The vice president of the Congress party, and the National Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party ae both descendants, and a family member of the family has held the reins for 40 0f the 60 odd years of India's independence.

It isn't squeeky clean but at least some are trying to clean it up. One of my colleagues rather sneeringly commented about all the drug abuse in cycling but you don't hear about it in other sports to which I replied 'well that is true, those horses that tested positive are all keen cyclists, as was the sprinter Dwain Chambers, very famous for his cycling abilities' he grudgingly admitted that 'well yes, true I suppose'.
