The Ashes - 2010/11

On the eve of the First Test, there is much at stake for two evenly match sides!

England are a team getting stronger and more confident, whilst Australia are in decline, but are never to be dis-counted or underestimated.

England, the current holdes of the Ashes, only need to draw the series to retain the urn, whereas Australia will come out chomping at the bit and aggressive.

England possibly have the better, and more balanced, bowling attack, whilst the Aussies, on paper, have a stronger batting line-up.

Who's to win?

I say England 2-1.

Any other CCers interested in the battle Down Under?

I think it'll be drawn, and that's a reasonable enough achievement. Shame so many people won't be able to watch it though.

I'm too nervous to watch it Marin!

I think we'll win it 2-1 but I don't like the idea that we're suddenly favourites.

Highlights on ITV4 I believe

Been looking forward to this for a long time, I think England are the strong side, if you compares all 11 players, the Australian team is not as strong as it usually is. I've got England to win 2-1.

The Aussies usually manage to put in a couple of strong performances - if its in the two opening tests then the Aussies to win otherwise England for me.

My heart says England my head says Australia.
Ponting will not want the stigma of losing 3 Ashes series, especially one on home soil.
England need to go all out and attack from the off. Bash the Aussies confidence.

ps and if any one comes on this thread saying the hate cricket blah blah blah.. It will be removed. You have been warned. Start your own thread.

England have a bloody great chance. More now then for a long time..The Aussies, particularly Ponting, and his bowlers must be under enormous pressure.

Is that based on current form or just presuming that Australia will be good playing at home?

If it's the former, then i'd put England as favorites.

My heart tells me we have a good chance, at least to draw the series and retain the urn. My head tells me that we thought that last time, and got stuffed. Any bets on where the first ball will end up?

Oh, and Richie Benaud will be commentating on the ITV4 highlights.

I'm excited now. Can't decide if I should stay up late to watch to start or get up early and watch the end of the days play.

What time is it scheduled to finish in the mornings?

bout 7 am

Watch the first hour then highlights in the morning before work.

If England win the first test then they will win the series 3-1 I think. If the Aussies win first test then they win series
by the same score. if the first test is a draw then england to win 2-1.
