Awful start, hope they can build a solid second wicket partnership.

Bad Bad news.
I know that when you win the toss form dictates that you should bat first. But c'mon Strauss. We should have bowled first. Taken the game to the Aussies first.

And, for me, the daunting prospect of Hayden, Langer and then Adam Gilchrist in the line up for Australia, is but a memory. These three seemed to flay bowling attacks into submission - at will.

Disappointing first day for England, especially after batting first on a friendly wicket!

They know have to dig deep, attack with the ball and post a good second innings score second time around.

Otherwise Bruce Noodley will be singing loud and long!

It's not the best of starts, but I was expecting 300 to be a decent total after we lost the early wickets, so we're not too far off. The wicket will break down over the next 4 days, so hopefully come the second innings we can put some pressure on them. This is still wide open.

On another note, I managed to get 12-1 on KP getting a ton in the first innings, he did well but it wasn't to be

Ponting and Hussain both tried bowling first, and both were thrashed.
