I think my grandson must be part-Aussie cos he burst into tears every time I leapt off the sofa, shouting when a wicket fell!

Told you it was the last day!

I still don't understand the Aussie tactics. Perhaps they thought the pitch was going to disintegrate. All they did with the slugging was to provoke England into action (and lord knows they needed it). It was like some Hollywood boxing movie - pugilist A comes out swinging, landing hefty blows, B looks done for and the result a foregone conclusion. Then suddenly boxer B is full of beans again and starts laying into A. Lays him out before an ecstatically cheering crowd. Great entertainment but it just doesn't happen in real life does it?

Can I just point out I predicted all this in post 182 before they had lost a wicket and 187 after the 1st one went down.
I don't think I stopped expecting an England win but I didn't expect such a quick collapse - it was pretty spectacular. Well done with the prediction but you do now realise that there's no cricket to watch today now, don't you?

Good call!
I must admit that I feared the worst but as my son, who was also predicting a collapse, pointed out to me, a pessimist is never disappointed!
Alex Stewart said on 5 Live, before Oz completed their first innings, that if he was still English Captain he’d be happy with an Oz lead of 30. Then, before England’s second innings, he said he’d be happy with an England lead of 250.

I’ve been impressed by his punditry, calmness and just plain down-to-earthess.
And he's also a Chelsea supporter.. so an all round good guy.

What an amazing session of cricket. It was one forty in the morning here when it finished and although I had to be up at 6am for an early bike ride I couldn't give up following the unfolding drama.
