Well fair enough within the rules but Australia having wanted to roll the dice will not quite be allowed to leave on a positive note.
3-0 to England, likely a fair result for this match.

This is cricket at its worst I am afraid. Game at an amazing climax, both sides want to complete the game, but the umpires have to abide by test rules. Has no-one thought that under these circumstances it should be up to both captains to decide.

What about floodlights? I don't know if they have lights at The Oval.

Didn't they have the lights on earlier in the summer when it was blazing sunshine?
They do have lights at the Oval - I guess the fielding visibility thing comes into play with a red ball.

If the Aussies did truly slow up play to get the game stopped for a draw, then England will take the upper hand to the winter series.

I don't share your optimism.

Australian wickets, Australian heat, Australian crowds and certainly a few new and young faces to come at us.

England look to be weak in depth, and don't play their strongest team, IMO. We need fit fast bowlers and a reliable middle-order.

Should be a great series, nonetheless.

And don't forget them cursed Kookaburra balls either.

Ah, but a few months can make all the difference. Our bowling line up IMO is not a problem, our batsmen on form is more of a concern. However, in recent years our batsmen have preferred fast wickets, which they have not been given for this series bizarrely. The wickets have also slowed up a bit in Australia over the last couple of years. Mind you I am ever the optimist when it comes to English cricket;)
