It didn't. Due to the poor forecast I decided I'd go do it another day. In reality I wish I'd of just cracked on, yeah we had some real heavy rain but I should still of done it, so disappointed in my decision.
Still, it will be a much nicer experience on a fine day. Looks like I've also got a number of folk who also want to cone along for the challenge.

How did your night ride go mate?

Mickey, you need good conditions to do this. Even then this will be a difficult 'ask' solo.

For a ride of that magnitude, then I would have thought you made the right decision. If you thought that it wasn't the right time for what ever reason, then it wasn't. Another go can be easily planned. Don't be disappointed. As you say, another day with better conditions.

Our ride was great thanks.
We managed to miss the predicted all day saturday precipitation until about 4.30 when in North London and all hell broke loose. It was simply madly biblical. The rain was stupidly heavy. Hurting the face type heavy. So much so that we had to take cover. Luckily, it wasn't cold, nor was the rain, so when it stopped it didn't take long to dry out.

HERE's some more words on the trip from Charlie. And a few pics from me a couple of posts down.

^That. For my one and only 200+ miler (so far)- Pompey to Cardiff, then onto Swansea on the FNRttC back in 2013- I had perfect conditions all the way. Dry, sunny, and a tailwind. If I'd tried that on the same route this past Friday I'd have had a headwind for over 200 miles. Real Life stopped any idea of trying it even without the weather, though. Waiting for the conditions to be as favourable as possible isn't cheating, it's just common sense. It'll be hard enough without wind or rain, believe us....

Hope no mechanical or punctures hinder you, it's tight for time that distance in 10 hours. Good luck let us know how it goes.

Holy thread resurrection!
Thread update, this ride is going to happen very soon! It's that time of the year when I plan to get this ride done and this year is no different. Same ride, same route, same target but I'm much fitter this year and real positive I can smash 10 hrs. I've recently done a 100 miler as a pacing test and did it in 4 hs 20 so confidence is high for a 10 hour ride.

The bit I never seemed to mention before, I attempted this back in 2012 but failed at 193 miles. My Mum was real proud I attempted it so I said one day I'll go back and do it again for her. A couple of months later she sadly and suddenly passed away so never got the chance to show her. Hopefully she'll be watching me from afar this time, smashing the course to bits, spurred on by the little picture of her I'm going to place on my top tube at the bottom of my stem. Just waiting for a dry day in the forecast and it's game time.
