Interesting that there are some G Lines available on EBay at prices that are more expensive than direct from Brompton and that's not including shipping - !

Hi there, not been on here for a few years.
I bought a G line in April and I love it.
It's a remarkably capable bike and feels not unlike a full sized bike. Once you're riding it you forget its small wheels. The standard tyres soak up rough surfaces. I've even done a local (Peak District) mtb route on it.
I bought it specifically for touring and, following the lead of a friend, have fitted 50t and 38t chain rings. If in hilly country I change these with my foot (at standstill). A front derailleur is not an easy option. It works better than it sounds. I have already done a 3 day, 2 night camping trip and fitted all my kit into two Vincita bags. Used trains to start and from finish. The rear bag has rucsac straps so with that on back, front bag in one hand and bike in other, public transport is straightforward.

I can get all I had in 5 bags on my Thorn Sherpa in just these two.
Planning on a French trip next spring.
BTW I'm 71 and still managing non electric.

I have a Bike Friday New World Tourist with drop handlebars that I’ve used on almost 10 tours (Taiwan, Netherlands, France, and most recently Germany, Switzerland, and Austria). I have also taken it on two trips to Japan and it was there that made me realize that I would like to get a Brompton because the Bike Friday’s fold is pretty crap and you cannot move it around easily once it’s folded. Folding it and then lugging it around to take trains was a pita.

Your set up looks great. I was wondering if you had installed a 50T/38T dual chainring to use with the existent Alfine 8 rear hub and if so, has there been any issues with the gear reduction for the Alfine 8? I read the IGH like the Alfine 8 cannot have the gearing reduced too much.

Your answers would be much appreciated, thanks !

Lots of questions about the G-line, that seem to be skipped by Brompton on the website.
What's the front hub spacing ? That fork is made of what ? Bottom bracket type ? Handlebar clamp diameter ? Is a shorter, straight handlebar going to interfere with the fold ( after the requisite bar ends are installed) ? Is this 20" wheel size 406 or 451 or has Brompton come up with something stupid ? Still have the awful plastic slipping seatpost sleeve ? I have to make my own wiring harness for the lights, or do they have kits available ? Brompton planning on coming out with a Continental tyre option, or would I have to bin those nasty Schwalbes and be out another pile of money ?
