Mrs D qualifies for a disabled bus pass, although the buggers dont half make you jump through hoops to get it. Probably a nasty and deliberate tactic to keep the numbers down.

If we're going into town and were not in a hurry we'll take the bus, although our local council are one of the few that charge full whack for carers so I have to get my change purse out every time.
Get a companion pass, which will allow you to travel with her for nothing.

Well, Mr @Dogtrousers, look away now then!:

Annyway, the inspiration for this thread came on Saturday there, as, quite by chance, I happened to catch the end of the GVVT (Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust) 'London Comes To Glasgow' run.

There were more events on Sunday, but I never attended.

So... I managed to catch an old 'RT' from Clydebank to Glasgow Buchannan bus station and what's more, I got to sit at the front!! 😍

We were the 5th vehicle out of 5 (2 modernish buses, 2 Routemasters and our 'RT' (I might not know much about buses, but strangely, I know exactly what an 'RT' is, hence my choice).

All too soon, it was over, but I enjoyed it anyway!!:

Interesting, I still have no idea what that 4th one is as I have still to look it up, but there is that and the 5th to find out about:

@classic33:

'LX51FOF is a preserved Alexander ALX400-bodied Dennis Trident 2 double-decker bus, formerly operated by Stagecoach London (Fleet Number 17524). Built in November 2001, it is now preserved at the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust (GVVT) at Bridgeton Bus Garage.'

Apparently it was brought up to help at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, never left and was preserved after that.

'KYV781X is a preserved 1982 MCW Metrobus (Fleet No. M781) originally operated by London Transport. Built as part of a major 1981 delivery, it features updated mechanical gear. The classic red double-decker is now part of the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust collection and regularly appears at vintage rallies. [1, 2, 3, 4]'.

Yet again... Why Glasgow one wonders?

Yeah I am railway, so I only know so much about buses really.

I don't even know what the two, modern buses that led us were. 🤷‍♂️

They're Dennis Trident double-decker buses, originally built in November 2001. Featuring an Alexander ALX400 body, first operated by Stagecoach Selkent (fleet number TAS524) in London.

Glasgow allowed them to store them, now rather than scrap them, they gave them to the museum.

They had the PIP forms. Mrs Ds application went through no problem but, they told me, carers or companions can just F off. One of the few councils in the country that don't do free companion passes.
