I don't. In some circumstances an £80 bike is just as good as a £3500 bike. For instance a short commute on flat ground. Although I would think hub gears would be best for that. So a second hand with Sturmy Archers, £80. Another example is my use of Rolhoff equipped bikes. Less maintenance and probably cheaper in the long run.
I am not American on cars, you do not need a big car, for instance, because of longer trip distances. On the other hand a different bike for a different need will have a significant benefit. I just don't think that's true with cars.

No, what makes you think that? I do work with car body panels and know the benefits of paint sealant, do you.

I would advise anyone buying a new car to apply the sealant but not get the garage to do so.

Alas, it matters not. Jimmy Savile was an uber keen Carlton rider, racing them in his youth and then being paid to endorse them in his later years but this all gets forgotten. Ditto Hitler and Volkswagen. Indeed close association with an unsavoury individual seems almost a prerequisite for success in the vehicle manufacture and retail business.
