I took these during the floods of June 2007
For anyone from the West Yorkshire area, the road is the one (Barnsdale', A656) that heads north from Castleford, via Peckfield Bar, up to the A1 @ HookMoor/Aberford
The flooded stretch is roughly half-a-mile long, & if you look at the 2nd pic, there's a guy wading through it with a bike on his shoulder
Now, all he'd have needed was a manhole cover to have been blown off when the water was rising & he'd never have been seen again
This stretch of road had some notoriety, due to appearing on 'Look North' (lBBC regional news, & subsequently on YouTube) during the flooding of this autumn, when someone Wake-Boarded(??) along it behind a pick-up truck
Although, there was very little water there then, there's a couple of feet more for this Landie

Yeah the chap is my wife's great uncle- and I'll probably see them tomorrow at a family meal which is why I wanted to be able to source the original (funny as the edited version is!)

They've converted Worcester racecourse into a boating lake:

We've got away quite lightly in the Shrewsbury area but it still looks quite impressive in places.
From todays ride:
Atcham - the water comes right up to the main road.
Despite plenty of signage people were still driving up and looking surprised that there was water on the road.
