The picture quality was very, very poor.

If you watch via the ITVX hub dodo dah the pic quality is far better, albeit about 1 minute behind the direct to your TV set coverage.

I heard my lad cheer from upstairs about a minute before the equaliser went in :okay:

He had the good grace to silently celebrate the winner, as he'd heard my shouts at the equalizer!

Better but not as improved as iPlayer. ITV HD Freeview, if you receive it, is fine. It is not that far behind ITVX for quality.
ITV 4 Freeview is awful.
Also note, none sport ITVX is low quality.

The Italian defence was seriously good last night. Took England all night to properly unlock it but what a win! I am beginning to think the England Women just don't know how to lose tournament football matches.

While the England men have been rather good at it for the last 60 odd years!

It makes no sense whatsoever.

My understanding always was...a penalty in normal play, a rebound or loose ball from the keeper is considered a live ball and play continues and of course, it can result in a goal.
A penalty shoot out ...once the kick is taken (or perhaps more accurately, once the keeper has saved) , the ball is dead and play cannot continue.

Happy to be corrected

This is correct although I have read that the powers that be are considering making non-shoot out penalties subject to the same law as shoot out penalties (i.e. can't score on the rebound)

THat is correct for the current rules with the minor exception that if it comes back of the goal surround, the player who took the penalty can't play it until another player has touched it.

They are proposing changing that, though I don't know what the outcome of a rebound would be under the proposed change.

So assuming the keeper saves the ball under the new rules, what happens then in the following scenarios...
Ball rebounds from keeper and goes over the side line ? Unlikely I know but..
Ball rebounds or keeper pushes it over behind the goal line?
Ball rebounds into the field but cannot be played.
Keeper actually manages to hold the ball from the shot ?
Four different scenarios, what happens ?

Obviously, all the same. A free/ goal kick from the goal kick position.
I personally thought that that list of proposed changes was maybe a spoof.

It could well be. The proposed law, if true, would have ruled England's goal out last night.

One law I'd like to see introduced, pulling a players shirt or wrapping your arms round them to be an automatic red card. There is no excuse for it and it ruins the game.

It's basically treated exactly the same as in a penalty shoot-out.

Penalty is just a free kick, same as any other.
Ball is live once it's taken, but the free kick taker can't touch the ball again until it's been touched by another player.

I need to look in to this.
