Studs were nowhere near, it was the instep/lower shin.

And while it probably should have been a foul, I'm not sure it was quite at the level of a "clear and obvious error". It certainly wouldn't have been overturned if the ref had given it.

It was brilliant and no fluke, Ecuador are an extremely good team.

Tough game if so. The good thing is that they like to play and attack, I don't think they would just sit defensively like Ghana.

Whatever part of the boot it was, it reportedly drew blood (though not much), so my money would be on the studs.
