Some Wrexham like undertones there. I consider Gateshead much part of the Newcastle area so I lightly wonder about a rename to 'Greater Newcastle FC' as a way of enlarging fan catchment.

How many managers sacked by Chelsea in recent years have not gone on to other jobs? He's young, if he wants to continue in management he will, and if he succeeds with some club in the future his Chelsea sacking will be forgotten.

True, but they were generally proven managers with major trophies on their cv. Young English Managers at the top level are few and far between and don't tend to go straight back into a prem job. He can only continue in management if he gets an offer. Look at Rooney, he clearly wants another crack but high profile failures have left him untouchable.

Fair point! Having said that, if all you want to do is be a Manager and a failure like that means you never get another top job, it probably doesn't cushion the blow as much as we think it would or should.

I always said (probably like many other people) the Stevie G leaving Rangers on a high to manage Villa was a mistake. Too big, too soon. IMO it severely damaged his career.
I thought the same with Lampard at Coventry but I was wrong about that one.

Well then. Rovers secured Championship football for next year with what was, by all accounts, an excellent first half to lead 3 - 0 at HT. We then restricted Sheff Utd to a single goal in the second half. I did sneak a look at the score at HT and thought knowing Rovers this could end up 3 - 3 as the Blades had +/- 70% possession.

The next task is to try and keep Michael O'Neil as manager. He's done a great job, the fans love and respect him and he seems to be an all round decent individual - the sort of man I like to manage my club.

I hope Valerian Ismael, a charlatan if ever there was one, has watched this and asked himself some searching questions. A man who shouldn't be near any football club, utterly incompetent.
