Of more concern would be the decreased preparation time.

But bad for the England team as it'll be mid-day in Mexico, not early evening. Meaning even higher temperatures than the 1am BST kick off we were expecting! I hope they are only thinking about it due to the expected thunderstorms and not due to pressure from the pub/leisure sector!
FIFA doesn't give a toss about spectators or TV viewers, but a player being killed by lightning wouldn't be a good look.

I told Mrs Poacher I wouldn't watch all the game; I'd come to bed as soon as Argentina went two goals up. Here I am at the start of the second period of extra time with the score 2:2.

Edit: Argentina just scored!

Well it's not getting moved anyway, unless there's a thunderstorm, which would just see it moved later not earlier

It was stupid suggestion from the outset and so, so typical of FIFA. Fans, TV schedules, policing, stadium staff, security, players........it's a long list. If one ever needed evidence of the stupidity it takes to be a FIFA official this is it. I'll be tucked up in bed. I can't think of anything that would tempt me to stay awake till 4.00am to watch England probably get eliminated.

I do genuinely feel this WC has created a problem through its sheer size. I have a passing interest in international football. I'll watch if an England or Scotland game is on at a semi-reasonable time. I appreciate time zones mean we cannot expect KOs to be convenient to Europeans, we shouldn't feel so entitled. Where I see the difficulty, it is for me, is the matches are so widely spaced there's no momentum or excitment building, no anticipation. This just drags on and on and with still more than two weeks to go, by which time I will have completely lost interest.....................unless Kane has managed to pull England through to the final
