Davy - I have e-mails from Russes E, R and S, but no P. Has he sent me his details and confirmation that he's read and understood 'the basics'?

Does that mean we can have two?

I forgot to compliment you, by the way, on having re-packaged the quality of sogginess as a virtue in bacon sandwiches. This marketing guru stuff is out of control!
it's all about perception.

I appear to have been removed from the list. I still expect to attend even if I am on my fixed.

Hi all - being a noob and all have been thinking about this - what do people tend to do as preparation on the day of the ride itself ?(I'm sure the answer in a lot of cases will be "a day's work, cycle home, quick bite to eat".....).

I've thunk ahead and booked the day off, but should I spend it trying to sleep as much as possible or fettling the bike to within an inch of its life??

First one I did, I had the week off, and I did take a nap. Since then, I've been working the week of pretty much every one, and I do indeed go for that first answer- straight off work (I'm on a late shift as well, I try and finish about 8 on ride nights), home to change and some food, then on to the station for the train up to Waterloo. Certainly a very good idea to check the bike over, if you think you'll need the sleep have a nap.....
