Those of a sufficient vintage and from the North East of England know who Roger Mellie was based on.

when listening to pop master on The Ken Bruce show I normally score between 20 and 30 (occasionally getting as high as mid 30s THE day I was on it for real I scored 9...... (chose the wrong bonus questions big style) at least I got the "one year out" T shirt... which coincidentally I'm wearing right now

I got a call from the producers of "Don't forget the lyrics" The Shane Ritchie karaoke quiz on Sky when I applied, and failed the telephone audition

Oh the strange things we assume. I was convinced I'd fluffed the over-the-phone test but they called me back and I've been invited to an audition next Wednesday. I was watching Countdown this morning and saw the total humiliation of a young Scotsman and felt so sorry for him. I've seen an associate of mine humiliated on Mastermind a few years ago and he's yet to live down the shame so I hope they weed my weakness out before it's seen by the entire nation (well, the 5% or so who watch Mastermind anyway!)
