Hi to you all out there.
Is there anyone that might be interested in parting with a weeks wages for something really special !!!?.
There is currently an E'bay entry item number 290606538427. This is one Sharp Looking Piece of Kit.
From the perspective of a clean looking Classic Bike I think it is only matched by the light gold Benotto Model 3000 from 1979 belonging to Malcolm Summers from Gwynedd. It is on Classic Lightweights (readers' bikes),he also has a 1978 Cromo.

£8000, for some metal sticks welded together, which we only have his word for it worked once, and some mementos, none of which are pictured.

He's not the worlds best salesman is he?

Actually Arch. They are Brazed together, the bike has traditional lugs. The metal sticks as you call them are tubes,THEY ARE HOLLOW,sticks are not.
I think you will find the the evidence of the 'bike working' will be recorded on film and very likely a video, they were about in those days you know!!!!!.
My guess is that this bike will go out of the country in a crate to the USA or Australia.
There are plenty of Ex Pats that will remember the skills of the late Harry Quinn and have that kind of money to spend and use the bike or just invest it for the future.

You could go to Ribble or Planet X, spend an eighth of the price and get something twice as good.

Yeah I know, British classic and all that, blah blah blah...

Re the comment "investing for the future", no chance. Have you seen the price of classic bikes? They don't come near to that.

I would have thought he'd have at least added the best offer button. I've no doubt he would have received offers and this would have made him realise what he could truly expect to get for it.

It's a great looking thing and certainly looks mint, but it's not my cup of tea at all.

Also I wouldn't have thought fleabay was the best place to advertise of a bike of this ilk, specialist cycling press would be more apt IMHO.

Can't believe it didn't sell  I half expected Gaz to bid at the death

I hope the seller didn't pay anywhere £8k for it when he bought it. If he did I'd suggest he learns to love it as he won't be getting his money back in this lifetime.

Yes, thank you, I do know, it was a sort of, you know, a joke?

Still, £8000 for a road bike, bonkers. It does the same thing as my old Galaxy, which I paid £15 for.

Yup.

Harry Quinn was a well known name as a quality frame builder, but he was one of many who made frames to the same standard. When all's said and done a frame is only a collection of off the shelf tubes and lugs. It takes skill to fabricate it properly, but one that any decent welder can attain.
